2008 election
Hope you, the DNC, are happy now that you have made obama the nominee. In Nov. when McCain wins, and he will, you can all kiss each others feet and bow to Howard Dean for 4 more years of a republican. I have never in my life seen an organization mishandle itself the way you have. Your denying Mich/Fla their votes in a situation over which they had no control was dispicable. Howard Dean leads like a true doctor - with his ego. He made a poor decision and then wouldn't admit his mistake. I can tell you, OHIO will not put obama in the White House, even if he should put her on the ticket. No longer will I contribute to your pitiful organization, or obama, so don't send me any mailings.
we're not the DNC
just Democratic activists and voters who will put Obama in the White House and McCain in the dustbin of history :)
missie, the strongest
missie, the strongest candidate against McCain was edged out months ago. Obama consistently polled better against McCain until Clinton hammered him on Wright. If Obama loses, the Clinton supporters will carry at least half of the blame.
DO NOT blame HRC for whatever the outcome of the Nov election is
BO is unlikely to win in Nov but perhaps he will somehow pull it off. That would be great for the democratic party. However, this BS about how HRC will be responsible if he loses is the ultimate excuse/whine/sore loser type of attitude. Stop continuing to beat up on a loyal democrat like HRC.
BO is a big boy. There is nothing that HRC has said that will compare to what will soon be rolled out the Rovian attack machine. In fact, many of the rumors that were unsubstantiatedly placed at HRC's feet likely came from Rove already.
GET OVER blaming HRC for the rain, mud, etc.
HRC is definitely
not to blame if BO loses.
HRC made BO a much better candidate than he would have been without having to battle her.
But BO is going to win - the post-clinch bounce has him up 5% and John McBush has nothing to hit him with except outsourced racism, which isn't going to work.
Hillary Clinton gave one of the best speeches
I've heard, yesterday.
She showed grace, dignity and pushed for unity within our party.
It was good to see this Hillary, again.
She was the Hillary I admired and respected so much
when she survived Monicagate with dignity intact.
Hillary is one hell of a fighter.
She has inspired millions of people and showed women,
that we too can aspire to greatness.
She mentioned not dwelling on the past at the
expense of moving forward.
That's a tall order, especially when emotions are running high.
It takes time to heal.
But Hillary showed us yesterday that she is first and foremost
a Democrat, and a very strong one at that.
Thank you, Senator Clinton.
as you stated yesterday,
Yes We Can !
:-)
glass ceiling
Hey, I console myself with the idea that black men got hte vote in 1865, women of any color were not granted suffrage until 1920 (with a bit of a sidestep for Utah, which granted women the vote earlier to qualify for statehood, confident that all the women, as good Mormons, would vote exactly as their husbands told them to). So why am I not surprised at the outcome of the D primary race?
Also, Hil let Obama own the idea of change, which was a big mistake. let's face it, either one of them would be (as well as Bill Richardson, an Hispanic!), a BIG change.
But I live in Australia now, and the press here in the big article over the weekend takes Obama's wins in the "mountain states' seriously. That is a HUGE mistake. I am from idaho, and Idaho will go D when hell freezes over. He took 80% of the Idaho D vote -- which means 80% of the 20,000 who showed up, a big showing for Ds -- but the population of Idaho is 1. 5 MILLION. Idaho is not going D! Nor is the rest of the mountain states that he took. Colorado, maybe, Montana is always a bit odd, but the rest are solid R. Always have been, and without an earthquake always will be. That is what scares me -- that Obama has done this with states that NEVER go D. Are not even in contention.
Lisa, I quite agree with your post...
as an example of suffrage:
Edward's supporters had no problem being for Edwards.
Edward's supporters, now Obama supporters still like and agree that Edwards should be VP.
One of the main problems that both groups had with Hillary was that she voted for the IWR. Didn't matter that she made a statement at the time that she voted for it to force Bush to send the inspectors back into Iraq. She did not trust Bush but still wanted the inspectors back in.
Hillary, one of 75 senators(including Kerry)who voted for the IWR has taken the entire flack from the other groups of Dems.
Odd isn't it, rampant sexism that it is, that Edwards, a sponsor of the IWR is not called to account for that sponsorship. Being a male, he can do no wrong.
Also agree with you about Idaho. Almost moved to McCall years ago. The numbers from Oregon seem to indicate that Oregon will go Red in November. Dunno yet about Washington but Spokane will probably have that state going Red as well. Montana will also go Red this time around. As you say, they are an odd bunch up there--its the bitterly cold winters, the wealthy people who are summer residents only, and the 'god, guns, and guts' bunch at the bottom of the economic ladder who will go for McAnybody.
Obama took over faith, hope, and change--all still undefined and he is flipping on his previous statements about other matters as well.
His caucus scores will end up doing him in.

The greatest derangement of the mind is to believe in something because one wishes it to be so.
Thank you Hillary
I agree, we'll never know who would have made the better candidate. We can only rally behind Obama now that he is the democratic nominee.
I am grateful for Hillary too.
As an Obama supporter, and with my Mom being a huge Clinton supporter, it has been a tough election. Never before have I nor my Mom felt this strongly about a candidate.
