I am probably getting far to Historic. But back when I was just a babe in arms, my family, father, mother, grandparents, etc. were Democrats. So I grew up in a family of Democrates. They were that way because dad, both granddads, and a few uncles lost money, and bank accounts in the Great Depression that followed the -28/29 - HOOVER crash. Dad lost about 300 bucks, but back then that was like having about 10K in a 401k. Many would never open another bank account. I remember my dad's father, when he died, about 1950, we had to search his apartment for 'tabacco cans' of stashed money. The point being, they came to a feeling of distinct hate for the Republican Party. They loved Roosevelt, the New Deal, and the survivors, including me, loved Harry Truman. And I grew up a Democrat and never, ever changed. Here is what the Republicans have done since then whenever they got in power 1947: MCCarthy called most non-Republicans - Communists. 1947: Passed the Taft-Hartley act over Truman's VETO. 1948 and on throuogh the Eisenhauer Admin. Passed more antiUnion and anti worker legislation. 1955: Sent the first 'advisors' to Viet Nam. 1968: Got Nixon elected, the first nut case who tried to take over the US for him and his Republicans. 1974: Got rid of Nixon, but Ford Pardoned him.  1980: The very first act of the Reagan bunch - Fire all the Air Controlers. More anti Union busting. Iran/Contra, etc,etc,etc.  2000: The very first act of the bush bunch - give all the 1 percent of the rich and famous a BIG BIG tax cut. Start a war for Cheney and his Halliburton Oil buddies. more anit worker activity. and more etc, etc, etc.   And somebody who really has to work for a living might get the wrong idea that there might be a COOD REPUBLICAN SOMEPLACE, SOMEWHERE???   I hate to say this in light of all the Republican Pat Robinsons and other Pulpit Pounders BUT The good lord help us and forgive us our trespasses,  if we ever elect another Republican!!!!
