I signed this Fillibuster a great many months ago. Since then it has collected close to 6,000 signatures and are asking for more signatures to the fillibuster to end the war. Congress will be voting again on the war in September and him and others with him would be glad to have you sign if you haven't already. Here is the e-mail I recieved just today with links on how you can sign the on-line fillibuster.
Thank you for signing the Filibuster For Peace petition. With the
September war appropriations debate fast approaching, we must renew our call
for the U.S. Senate to filibuster any funding request that fails to
include funds to bring the troops home as quickly and safely as possible.
We have great news and bad news.
First the bad news: The deadly Iraqi occupation keeps dragging on and
on and on.
Now the great news: With a starting base of nearly 6,000 filibuster
signers, we have an opportunity to end this terrible quagmire.
The purpose of this message is to ask you to please locate another new
signer (e.g., a friend, coworker, brother, cousin, mom, etc.) to help
expose the filibuster option to the voting public. Generate as many new
signers as you can, and do it this week.
Why now?
Because in just a couple of weeks the Congress will be debating war
appropriations again, and the Senate - as the Republicans have routinely
demonstrated - has the power to filibuster any appropriations it doesn't
like. A filibuster in the Senate next month would effectively force an
end to the war. So if each of us does our part in exposing the
filibuster option, then we can apply tremendous pressure on our senators, the
likes of which they haven't felt in decades!
We absolutely must send a loud and clear message to the majority
Democrats: We now know about your filibuster option. We know that you need
just 41 votes to end the occupation. And therefore you will not be
fooling us again!
And the filibuster option is becoming more understood. With nothing
more than word-of-mouth advertizing, FilibusterForPeace.org has awakened
literally thousands of Americans in just a few months. And with the
polls finally favoring peace, we know that millions more Americans are out
there waiting to sign the filibuster petition - as soon as they hear
about it from someone like you!
SO WE ASK YOU ONCE AGAIN TO LOCATE MORE FILBUSTER SIGNERS AND ASK
OTHERS TO DO THE SAME.
And ask new signers to locate still more NEW signers.
