Rep. George Miller (CA-07), a great Representative who is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, is pioneering a new form of engagement with the Netroots through his "Ask George" forum. Basically you can "Ask George" a question through any electronic means - a video, blog, email (george.miller@mail.house.gov?subject=askgeorge), text message, twitter, whatever - and he periodically answers them in a video blog.
Miller gets an A+ for engagement. But some of his answers get F's. For example, Miller answered a question about cutting off funds for Iraq with the Big Bush Lie that it would leave our troops vulnerable (answer starts at 1:30). There is no - I repeat no - proposal in Congress that would leave our troops vulnerable. But there is the Lee Amendment for a fully funded withdrawal that would restrict all funds to the sole purpose of bringing our troops safely home. That's the bill most of us support, but Speaker Pelosi refused to allow it a vote, and so I resent Miller's flagrantly dishonest answer, and I sincerely hope he corrects it.
Here's my question for the next edition of "Ask George":
Rep. Dennis Kucinich introduced three Articles of Impeachment for Vice President Cheney, H.Res. 333. The Articles cite Bush's lies about Iraqi WMD's, lies about Iraq-Al Qaeda ties, and threats of illegal war against Iran. By a 54-40% majority, Americans support the impeachment of Cheney, and 14 Democrats are co-sponsors of H.Res. 333. Rep. Miller, why aren't you a co-sponsor?
