The new GA03 race is between Republican incumbent Lynn Westmoreland and newcomer Mike McGraw. I really believe Mike has a chance to clip Westmoreland's wings, as people seem less than thrilled to have the self-described "Nothingest Congressman in Congress" representing them.
Westmoreland is considered a shoo-in by the Repugs, and is getting their support. Our Dear Dem CC leaders are sitting on their hands and provided next to nothing in the way of support for McGraw. They throw in the towel in far too many contests, then stand there and whine about Repugs taking over. I'm furious with them, and fighting for Mike.
Mike McGraw makes sense for our district. It was designed for Westmoreland, is suburban/rural with conservative folks and lots of church-goers. Mike is a new Democrat, because he can't stand where the neocon leaders have taken the Republican Party. Yes, he's conservative -- but he's the old-fashioned conservative more liberal folks like me can actually work with, because he believes we have to deal with our problems in a practical way, with people of differing points of view coming together.
I've been handing out literature and delivering yards signs. Anything I can do here in Muscogee County, I will. This is the home of Ft. Benning. This area is home to many current and retired military. People around here are quick to tell you "We support the troops." Don't fool yourself into thinking that means all of those folks blindly support George's War. They don't; they just don't shout about it. Westmoreland has willingly acquiesed to the squandering of our troops lives. Mike will be a much better supporter of our military.

Mike wants his kids and their children to have a future, and he knows that won't happen without fiscal and environmental responsibility in Congress. He can use volunteers, money, people talking him up as they go about their daily business, and the votes of everyone who is sick and tired of what the Repugs have done to our country.
