We are organizing by precincts in Orange County, and we need you to join us! California has a great program called Precinct Captains. Orange County is participating, and our hope is that we can cover every precinct by the presidential election in 2008. I am a City Captain for Irvine, but have the capability of getting a precinct list for you no matter where you live in the county. In other cities that have a captain, I can refer you directly to that person. Otherwise, just give me your address and I can get a precinct list for you or set you up to access the Precinct Captains site. For those who aren't as computer savvy, we can even print out your list and mail it to you, but we can also email you a list in Excel format that you can sort as you wish, by party, or to include all voters. Those who are really comfortable with computers can go on line and actually make comments, add newly registered voters, and remove those who have moved.

Our goal is to make Democrats in Orange County aware that they are not "the only Democrat on the block," so that they will come out, proudly, and vote! If working with an entire precinct seems too much, that's OK. We would love to have "street captains" as well. It would be great to have a "go-to" person on every street who would help emergize his or her neighbors. In our faceless society, we really need to be able to wave and say hello, by name, to our neighbors!
