As a healthcare provider for over 37 years I have represented the special interests of patients, families and the invisible people. As a Registered Nurse, I have worked tirelessly, days, nights & weekends to serve the Wee People of Western North Carolina for over twenty years. It wasn't a preacher, a teacher nor a politician, but a nurse who wrote the world's most widely read "Apology" concerning the Iraqi war according to Google at: http://www.islamonline.net/english/In_Depth/Iraq_Aftermath/2004/12/artic.... I have held the worst injuries of Vietnam in my arms. I would vote to stop funding the war and force the Executive Branch to orderly bring our troops home over the next 10 to 12 months. I have been scarred by two wars, Vietnam and my personal war against the injustices of a healthcare system that denied its mistakes and by default blamed the mother. I have conquered the stress of these two traumatic wars with flowers, was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for the hope my little rose garden gave to others at the 24th Evac Hospital and used flowers to support a family battling corrupt liability attorneys. The experience I gained from serving my fellow soldiers in a combat zone and fighting for a family's right to full disclosure concerning the root causes of a near lethal adverse drug event, has in the aftermath armed me with the weapons necessary to take on reformation of a corrupt US Congress. Tenacity and a thirty year vision of hope. I have a vision for a new American Foreign Policy and if Universal Care is really important to our children and the working poor, then we don't need attorneys trained to lie and grown men trained to play games drafting legislation. The American people deserve representation of their interventional care needs, maintenance and preventive healthcare needs in the halls of Congress by those best trained to do so: Nurses. Nurses who run hospitals, clinics, Doctor's offices, perform case management and visit patients in their homes. Basically nurses are there before you are born, at birth, during some of life's most improtant moments and as you decay and die. The question is: Who are you going to trust with your life? I am that Nurse and as I raise my voice, travel and run all over WNC to promote the message of "The Wee People Running Congress," their hearts will be stirred and by voting in the 08 Primary for a Nurse, they will be casting a vote for their families. Nurses don't claim to be able to perform magic and they choose to tell the truth because your life and health depends on the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help them God.
