On 5/10/07, Rep. Jim Matheson betrayed the voters and troops of Utah's 2nd Congressional District by voting to continue George Bush's disastrous Iraq War forever.
Democrats.com is looking for an "aggressive progressive" Democrat who will challenge Matheson in a Democratic primary in 2008.

I recommend the Rock
Steve Coder I recommend Rocky Anderson against Matheson. Rocky Has been against this war from the start. He has spoken out to not only Salt Lake City but the Nation. He has even called for demostration against Bush every time dumbya has shown up here. He's the best choice.
Rocky's The One True Progressive in Utah
Rocky Anderson has been the voice in the wilderness for Utah progressives. I have attended events where he has been the featured speaker, both in Salt Lake City and Washington DC and have always been impressed. I was born and lived the first 30 years of my life in New York City, then moved to California's bay area and lived the next 30 years, then moved to Utah to retire and ski. I can tolerate the theocracy in Utah, but not the blind pro-Bush bias! Rocky Anderson speaks for me!

Utah's Rep's and Senators in Washington are a group of spineless jellyfish who do as they are told both at home and in Washington D.C. America needs those in office who will stand up for this nation and do the right thing.
America's finest are fighting and dying in Iraq and their families at home are suffering as well. Let's bring them home NOW! We need a person in the 2nd Congressional Districtr who will stand up against this president and his henchmen (and women).

Rocky Will Not Run
Rocky simply won't run against Jim nor could he win in this district.
But we should definitely try to identify someone who will. Jim will be very hard to beat though. 70% of his constituents are registered Republicans and he is overly cautious about pissing them off. He is willing to sell-out his basic convictions to insure re-election.
Truth be told, beating Jim as a non bluedog is unrealistic but we should keep heavy pressure on him for supporting far too much of the Bush agenda like torture, habeas Corpus, gay marriage etc.
Problem with Jim is he is NOT accountable to the mainstream democratic party here in Utah and has done everything possible to distance himself from it.
I believe it was the 2002 State Party Convention when most of the audience turned their back on him as he was speaking in protest of his vote for the Marriage Amendment. He's very bitter about that.
