Should the U.S. Attack Iran?18530 have signed – see totals by state and Congressional District. George Bush is considering attacking Iran, including using nuclear bombs to do so. Such an attack would be illegal and disastrous. Congress can prevent it, but only if Congres asserts its Constitutional right to decide whether or not the United States goes to war. Congressman Peter DeFazio's H. Con. Res. 391 expresses "the sense of Congress that the President should not initiate military action against Iran with respect to its nuclear program without first obtaining authorization from Congress." This bill is rapidly picking up cosponsors, but needs more. Ask your Congress Member to sign on today. Ask your Senators to take the same step in the Senate.

Petition InstructionsThank you for taking a stand on this important issue! Our petition system (created by The People's Email Network) will deliver the message on the left directly to your two U.S. Senators and one Representative, and you will see their names after you press submit. We request your address so (a) we can identify your Representatives; (b) your Representatives can verify that you live in their district; (c) your Representatives can send you a reply. If you are a U.S. citizen living abroad, use your U.S. voting address (usually your last U.S. address even if you no longer get mail there.) Sections (2) and (3) are purely optional. We hope you'll use (3) to tell your friends because the more people who sign our petitions, the more Congress will listen to us. You should expect a reply from your Representatives by email or snail mail. If you do not, call their office at 202-225-3121 and ask why they have not responded to your constituent email.
