Have you seen the Knight Ridder article from Common Dreams.org saying that certain GOP politicians are getting angry with BUshCo because their own re-elections and power is threatened? Why not exploit this?
Why not get progressives in the districts of GOP reps to PRESSURE THEM FOR IMPEACHMENT?
I am in a district whose rep is already on board, but pledge to contact those activists on my lists who have REPUB reps, using this rationale.
And if you, readers, are IN a district with a GOP Rep, this is a great lever to use to get him/her to consider impeachment and H.Res. 635!
What say, folks?

Your Idea is sound
I almost wish I lived in a Republican district-almost. I will pass this advise on to the people I know live in Republican districts though. Way to think on your feet.
Why give them OUR issue?
We don't want Republicans reelected, when there is enough popular support for a mass-takeover of the House and Senate.
The only way they can save their Party and control of Congress is to do this.
F the F'ing F'ers! Run a real Democrat against them instead, and pin the F'ers for not wanting to Impeach Bush!

In my view it is possible to "turn" some Republicans who still have some sense in them back toward some "life-affirming" values and actions. If some Repubs (and Dems in the same corporate pockets) want to get BushCo impeached, why be partisan about it?
THE Issue is OUR Issue!
In case you have had your head in the sand, let me remind you, the most corrupt Party in US history is now controlling the most corrupt Congress in US history.
Bush isn't the only issue.
The real issue is punishing the GOP. Unless we do so, they will repeat what they know works for them, yet again. This isn't the first time the GOP has gone totally corrupt. This is not the first time the GOP has turned against America itself. What this can be is the LAST time. To do this, we not only have to beat the holy living crap out of them, we have to beat them so bad that they never pull this crap again.
The ENTIRE GOP is America's problem.
But shouldn't we just get them out? Many Dems are complicit too!

I don't buy your argument that Republicans will suddenly have an epiphany. If anything, they will infiltrate the Party and work from inside to move the DNC father to the right. Republicans have proven that they cannot be trusted to be benevolent or trustworthy at any level. The F'ers are always scheming against us, and have been for a freaking century.
The last thing we need is more Zell Liebermans.
And as for the Zell Liebermans and Al Froms out there, we can deal with that problem too.

Your "Move the Party to the Right" idea has been the official strategy of the Party for over a decade now.
I think the jury is in. You lose. All it does is lose us elections. It alienates the true base of the Party, who in ever increasing numbers just stay home and don't vote, because they can't choose between a Republican and a Republican running as a Democrat.

In fact, I feel so strongly on this matter, that I left a voicemail for Al From on Friday in his assistant Jennifer's voicmail. "Hello Jennifer. My name is Jim, and I'm a Democrat. Please pass this message to Mr. From for me: Please tell him that he can lick my big red lollypop".

We don't want Repubs to be just partisan. WHy should we be? If we stand for integrity (be in Repub, Dem, or PolkaDot - and certainly the current administration is gulity of ANTI-Integrity on most if not all counts) who cares who comes with us?
The answer to that is simple.
Every time the GOP has pulled this crap on us and America as a whole, we have decided as a Party to "play nice" and pretend that they didn't do it yet again.
What we are dealing with is a bunch of schoolyard bullies, and there is only one known cure for a schoolyard bully. If this cure is not applied, the bully plays like an angel when someone is looking, and when they aren't being watched, they will slit your throat and steal your lunch money. What we are dealing with is no different, and has a long and well-established history.
The cure for a schoolyard bully is plain and simple. You beat the punk to within a millimeter of his life.
We have to do this to the GOP as a whole, or the next time we will probably end up in American concentration camps run by religio-fascists and be forced under threat of death to bow before their Satanic idea of a God..

Some are growing consciences. And if any can be on board with those who are for integrity in government, then why not enlist their help?
I hear that there are those who find my idea to be unrealistic but what if we really tried to see who could help get BushCo out? Wouldn't that go some distance toward proving THEIR non-partisanship?
"We" hated the folks who impeached Clinton because they wanted Repubs in power - should we be like that - because we think all Dems are spotless and should be in power?
Is everyone in this blog a non-questioning Democrat? What about Hillary's pro-war stance? What about her lack of standing up against the total corruption and self-serving agenda of Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld?

Jesus himself said "You shall know the tree by it's fruit".
To take Jesus's analogy further, if all a tree produces is nasty fruit, you don't want to even use the seeds of a fruit on that tree that might actually be good. All you'll end up with is another tree with nasty fruit.
As to your assertion that we are non-questioning Democrats, please don't be a fool. We are quite critical of our Party too. We plan to do some housecleaning in our own house as well

I don't care who calls him or herself what. The goal of getting these proven treasonous torturing lying greedy selfish is worth it I think. Once that happens we get the most people with integrity in as we can.
"Bipartisainship" is a dead concept.
We didn't change the rules. But we have to play by them to make sure it never happens again.
It's going to be fun watching FAUX News not even able to get into a press conference, and watching how on the rare occassions when they are able to get into an event, they get treated as badly as Helen Thomas gets treated!
I've talked to Helen may times, and she's the sweetest old lady you'll ever meet, and honestly, she is a smart woman, and the way she's been treated is unacceptable. You should hear what she thinks of these Republicans, and she's right on target. The problem isn't just with Helen though. The problem is that the GOP marginalizes anyone who doesn't have their mouth firmly locked around their collective organ. They particularly hate Helen because that woman has more balls than 99% of everyone in the Press as a whole, and she's not afraid to call a bullshitter a bullshitter.

When we take control, the Republicans should be relegated to mock hearings held in closets when they want to bring up an issue.
We plan on undoing EVERYTHING they have done.

I am trying to get the Repubs (an others who are not life-affirming) out of majority power and if they can help with that then so be it.
Some real villainizing going on here and I'm not sure each and every Repub deserves it. And even if some do, if the Administration goes Dem, even the villains will have less power to do their dastardly deeds.

This is not the same as saying that we demand someone to be, pro choice, lean heavily towards helping the poor, etc. I am not being partisan. I am not even being anti old school conservative. An intolerable beast has been nourished however and it needs to be starved.
The Beast must be destroyed.

-Let them speak AND ask them their opinion of prayers to Mary in Public Schools.
-Give them a BIG platform under our control. Ask them what they think of the Pope.
-Ask them their thoughts on why it is they disagree with Science but don’t graduate Ph.D.s in Science.
-Propose a HUGE Democratic Economic Package (I have here: http://www.democrats.com/node/7018) and ask them if we should do that OR retain the tax cuts for the upper tier.

Your error is not in your desire but in its execution. We all need to persuade but NOT over a single individual. The stakes are far too high. Persuasion must be far broader than that. That is the goal and it is happening. But not as you suggest.

I hope you understand the necessity of what I'm saying.
Just because there are three Republicans between the House and the Senate that are even worth considering saving, doesn't exonerate the rest of them from being punished. To get those three on our side right now won't make a rats ass of a difference though in the near-term.
The GOP at this juncture needs more than just a spanking though. It needs to be beaten to a bloody pulp.
