Citgo

Citgo is the wholly-owned subsidiary of the national oil company of Venezuela. It set-up a program where it is providing subsidized heating oil or gas to poor communities in Chicago, Boston and New York. Remember when Grassley was begging the major oil companies during to Senate Hearings on price-gouging to do something similar but got no takers?

Heard last week on Democracy Now, a Senate Commmittee (intelligence, I think) was starting an investigation into the Citgo program looking for fraud or other wrong-doing. This is apparently more important than investigating how Bush lied us into the Iraq war or of Bush's illegal wiretapping program.

This sort of irony would be funny if it were not so sickening.

I couldn't agree more, ami.

Why are they dissecting a program to help the
needy and disabled with heating oil?

Perhaps it's because Hugo Chavez is an outspoken
critic of Bushie and his administration? True, Chavez
may have more political motives behind this
program than meets the eye.

However, the bottom line is that he is helping
needy people keep warm this winter. Isn't that
what matters?

Yes, this is very suspect.

Here's the link. A Repub. Congressman from Texas

launched this investigation! Yep, he's from the oil state of Texas.
Wow! He's angry because Citgo is selling oil cheaper than
most, and providing free heating oil for the needy.

How friggin low and sleazy can Barton get?

In Washington, Republican Congressman Joe Barton of Texas has launched an investigation into one of the world’s major oil companies. But he is not investigating whether any of the oil giants are engaging in price gouging at a time when gasoline and heating oil casts are skyrocketing. Instead Barton has set his sights on the only oil company that actually dared to lower its prices last year - at least for the poorest Americans. Last week Barton demanded the Venezuelan-owned company Citgo produce all records, minutes, logs, e-mails and even desk calendars related to the company’s novel program of supplying discounted heating oil to low-income communities in the United States. The Citgo program, which began late last year in Massachusetts and the South Bronx, provides oil at discounts as high as 60% off market price. We hear an excerpt of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. He first announced the discounted gas program during an interview with Democracy Now! on September 16, 2005.

'Just another redneck a**hole from Texas...'

Texas politicans; are [like Bush Co]...they destroy and make a mess..then ask questions later...

CITGo is NOT an 'Arab oil company'; and they hire mostly [Central America & South Americans]...and Hugo Chavez seems to be a 'Bush thorn'...anything that can drive a 'political wedge'..into the oil business are Barton's interests...

G W Bush finances the 'war on terror' w/ our tax dollars and finances 'terrorists' w/ oil coming from the MiddleEast.

Go Citgo

The Bush Administration will never stop me from buying only Citgo gas. What a lot of nerve these guys have? Just because Citgo is helping the poor to prove a point the Repugs want an investigation. Meanwhile, the palace residents at Dubai will be managing our ports. Their benevolent lobbying fee of 100 million dollars to New Orleans that was so tastefully made to insure their deal is a sham. What happened to this money? Does John Warner or the other bought Repugs have the money stuffed in their pockets? We need to bring sanity back and take back America. IMPEACH GEORGE BUSH.
