Dying Pope trumps Shiavo

Living just a few miles from Tampa/St. Pete I have braced myself for a long drawn out series of media extravaganza regarding the Schindler/Shiavo feud staring Randle Terry freshly regurgitated from the slim pits of hell, Jessie Jackson doing his best to get our minds and memories off his beautifully orchestrated Jim Baker impersonation and that lowest of the low Frank Pavone the so called priest of the Schindler family that makes the pedophile priests Richard Lavigne, Paul Shanley and the now dead John Geoghan seem like saints, I am almost relieved to hear that Pope John Paul II is taking the worlds attention away from this repulsive personal tragedy.

Maybe now these so called “good Christians” that have chosen to commandeer the parking lot of a hospice without so much as a second thought for the 65 dying patients within will crawl back into the holes where they belong and take their damaged offspring with them.

We here in the Tampa area had to go through this bullshit three years ago when the ultimate imbecile’s idiot brother tried to get the Florida supreme court to over rule the lower court decision to allow Terry’s husband to finally end her torment by taking her off life support. Now after three grueling years and thousands of tax payer dollars the poor soul is finally at peace and thanks to the Pope, we may finally be out of our misery as well.

Could it be that some Devine intervention has selected this moment for the Pope to pass over to divert the media away from an already brain dead media frenzy? I am not a Catholic and I certainly never want to be referred to as a Christian like the ones we see so much of today, but I want to go on record as being the first to thank the Blessed Pope for saving me from one more day of the Schindler/Shiavo Shitfest.

Don't get me wrong, I have the greatest respect for this Pope even though I do not agree with much of his belief, he has been a great leader for the billion plus Catholic people worldwide and has relentlessly strove to bring the religion into the present while maintaining as much of the tradition and teaching as possible. Nor do I fault Michael Shiavo for trying to do what he felt was right for his wife in the horrible condition in which she was forced to exist. It's not even the Schindler family that has caused most of the melodrama and later the vehemence that we have all had to observe, they were just so desperate to save their child that they accepted the advice of several totally iniquitous individuals with personal agendas and no scruples that used the Schindler’s fear and pain for their own advantage. These are the villains and the media has pandered to them like maggots in a carcass.

Pope John Paul II is a great man whose time is near and inevitable. Since he has to go, who could ask for a better time than this?

Did you know that Fox News ha

Did you know that Fox News has rented an apartment across the street from the Vatican for a couple years in preparation for getting the inside "scoop" on this story? I'm sure O'Reilly couldn't wait for him to die. That's the kinda material you just can't make up.

Fox news new lows?

GM,
I have no reason to doubt you and I would put NOTHING past fox news, but if this is correct it creates a new low in the media. Can this be documented? Murdock is even lower than that wannabe priest that called Michael Shiavo a "killer", but this kind of mercenary action is pushing it, even for the Ausie Anus.
BTW, O'Reilly was on Bill Maher's show tonight and if he is the fairly devout Catholic he professes, he is not excited to see JP2 go out.

The generalization was indeed

The generalization was indeed focused toward Fox, but it has been widely known that the news companies have been waiting for this. Here's one story.

BTW, I watched Maher tonite also. This is the first time I've heard Alec Baldwin on a political show, and he didn't disappoint me. He was great.

I misunderstood

and thought you were saying this was unique to Fox. I am always ready to believe the worst of Murdock and his minion of mental midgets. I suppose it is not so surprising that the vultures have been circling the Vatican for several years, much like the hyenas around the wreckage of Diana and Dodi in Paris. At least the owners of those old buildings are making out well.

now people in the US are seeing them for what they really are..
a bunch of hippokrits

Right wing shifting left

Right on Wahoo,
I am seeing and hearing more moderate repugs expressing doubt about the actions of this current admin. Since every member of congress with an R after their name has sided almost unanimously with them there is certainly the potential for a backlash. People are gullible for sure, but how long can you keep even the dumbist person in a dark room fed only shit? I truly think this extremist attitude is going to hurt a bunch of people in the next election. This is the time for the Dems to find there cajonies and go on the offensive. If we can't do it this time with a lame duck pres and the engine off the track then we may never get a shot.

They did the same thing for Reagan

All of the news organizations have prepared stories on the death of just about everyone who old and important. They prepared for years for Reagan's death and ascension into deity status. Now that the Pope has died, he is being credited with helping to end communism and win the "Cold War" too. In many ways, this is a good thing as the cold war wasn't won by any one person singlehandedly as many Reagan supporters believe.

Doesn't surprise me

one damn bit.

For a couple of years?

They sound like a pack of hyenas.

same song, different tune

Does anybody else think it is ironic how Right Wing Americans prayed to keep Terri alive even though she was brain dead? But now people world wide pray for a "decent death" for the Pope? They pray that the Pope's passing will be painless and diginified but they didn't wish that for Shiavo. This seems like the same song but in a different tune. Ummm, maybe I should ask Tom Delay who is responsible for the Pope conditions so that we can bring justice to he/her. I do believe the one in charge will eventually bring justice down on the Republicans - I just hope God doesn't take more Democrats than Republicans!

'Pontiff's Choice was to Die Simply'-LA Times

http://tinyurl.com/6haa4

The front page story this morning explains how John Paul II did not
want to be encumbered by tubes and machines. Nor did he want to die
in the Gemelli hospital. Extraordinary measures were not taken to prolong
his life.

This is very powerful message coming from the Pope.

Bush is taking Clinton but not Carter to Pope's funeral

Does anyone know why Jimmy Carter is not going to the Pope's funeral? Bush is taking his father and Clinton along - Ford is probably not well enough to travel.

Pondering your question

1. Bush probably didn't invite Carter because he doesn't want American's thinking about how high the gas prices are and Jimmy Carter's name is associated with high gas prices.

2. Gotta take Clinton so that maybe some Democrat might think of him as a good man because he has been catering to Clinton lately

Pope - Schiavo -

I've just joined this forum, and, while I love to hear/read that there are a lot of people who think the way I do (who wouldn't?), you do know, don't you, that you're preaching to the choir?

Welcome, yes, sometimes we're the choir,

other times we have diverse opinions within the group
of progressive Democrats.
We don't always agree with each other. but we have the same goals
and values.
Check out the different forums to get an idea of what we're about.

Preaching to the choir?

I, too, am new but to address your question, I'm always interested in hearing another opinion or contemplate another perspective on a topic.

On the subject of the Pope and Terri Schiavo, GOOD GRIEF! Can we be more intrusive on the personal lives of anyone than what the media and Republithug government has been in these people's personal lives? The Pope dying was just what the Dr. ordered for Bushco. Now that the kid in California has been declared guilty in the killing of his wife and unborn kid and Terri Schiavo is dead and buried, the Republithugs couldn't have dreamed up a better diversion than that of the death of the Pope. It is a ready-made smokescreen to divert our attention from the really important matters at hand for our country and government. While kids die daily in an undeclared, immoral, unjust and illegal war and the Republithugs are busy robbing and raping our country, it's resources and the future of our kids/grandkids (etc.), our attention is focused and guided by a corrupt media away from the obvious. It's enough to make me wanna puke. When will people wake up and pull their heads out of their collective asses? I find it so hard to believe that 51% of my family, friends and neighbors are so apparently brain-dead as to keep supporting this President-in-Thief. The next 1384 days will be the longest of my life.

Thanks for joining, Glenn. N

Thanks for joining, Glenn. Nice to have IBEW here. You guys really hustled for our party last year.

The Terri Schiavo case is not going to die. Randall Terry is looking for his next victim to make a spectacle out of. After PJPII is buried, this problem will be front and center again.

Furthermore, the Tom DeLay story is gathering steam. Wooo wooo!! All aboard!!

Glenn,
It may be better or worse than you think.

Also, Bush got 51% of the vote, but only sixty-some percent of potential voters are registered and voting. Time to start asking friends and family if they are registered to vote.

Concerning "preaching to the choir": It's great, great practice for the day the congregation comes into our lives -- and they do often, we just don't often see that part here at our practice center.

Preaching to the choir...how about getting

proof on vote tallies, as much as possible.
Write down your vote tabulations, formalize
with notarization. Take your own vote polls
and discover the exit polls may tell a different
story than what we were led to believe.
Talk to each other, the exit polls tell the
truth, and for those exit polls one can do
among a community would validate the irregular
machinery in the voting equipment purposely
set up by Bush, Rove and others involved
with rigging another election for Bush.

It really makes me puke when I think about it.
It is not what the country is based on, nor
is it what the country really about when looking
at her people, the average laborer and a need to
provide for his family.

Not only did Bush destroy the fabric
of the so-called democracy we have
come to think we had, he has regressed
policies FDR, Thurgood Marshall with
intentional hatred toward the people
FDR, Thurgood Marshall aimed to assist.

Native Americans, Women, Children, the disabled
disenfranchised, elderly, veterans, orphans
African-diasporic Americans, and others oppressed
by greater powers than feasible resources allow
were allowed assistance by what FDR believed
to be a pittance of your paycheck at 1.0+/-
percent into a fund. What right does Bush
have?

Who is attending with Bush?

If George is taking Laura and Bill and dad, who is the fifth person. I heard that there were five. Is the fifth one W's mother or is it Hillary? George has to take Bill along because i think that Papa Bush would like W. to learn how to talk in sentences. he has come this far with baby Engliah just think what he could do with polysyllabic words. We do get along pretty well here unless you start talking about granola fuel and that fact that we are shallow.

Condi is the 5th

Bush is taking Condi too!

War does not determine who is right, war determine who is left.

Imagine

Condi goes and President Carter can't go because "there just isn't room for him, but we are so very sorry." How about leaving Card at home? Rove? The wives, you know Geroge Washington and Laura? I am amazed by these bushites daily. Where is Emily Post when we really need her?

Proud  member of the reality based  community

Condi and Laura

Condi and Laura together. That is an interesting group. I hope that Condi doesn't call him her husband or George might be in trouble.

Laura veiled her head, but she's not Catholic

Of course we already knew she is a "poser", but gee whiz, this is the equivalent of costuming as a High Church Catholic

I have long since come to believe that people never mean half of what they say, and that it is best to disregard their talk and judge only their actions.  Dorothy Day
