The web sight doesn't tell
me a damn thing about where she stands on issues. Basically, it says that she is a nice person and plays well with others. Great, she passed Kindergarten. Until I truly hear her on the issues, and see what what she stands firm on and what shes wishy-washy on, she sounds like republican lite.
True...
But... it's intended to get a qualified candidate of "presidential timber" out there to talk about. All we hear is Hillary, Hillary, Hillary. Then some mention of Bayh or Warner. Well, there are some "sleeper" candidates out there who could get "hot" in '08. Think Clinton was thought off in '88 for '92? Especially after his LONG and BORING nominating speech... lol
If you want to know where Senator Lincoln stands, it's all easily available. My understanding... she's not liberal, but more moderate. And that comes from making her state her central focus. So, most don't label her as someone who intentionally positions herself on the spectrum, but as someone who is rather independent and does what is best for Arkansas. She's comfortable with and relates to small town and rural America. And she knows how to "talk values" in a comfortable, not fake, way.
As for "another woman" comment... her name isn't being put out their because of her gender. It's out there because she is charismatic, from the South, able to get re-elected in a red state, and a damn fine public servant. If you match up her "political" qualities to other mentioned candidates, I would contend she would be a much stronger and better candidate than the ones always mentioned.
Again, I posted this so people can keep an eye on her. The more great candidates willing to step forward for the nomination in '08, the better.
Yellow Blue Dog
I'm not sure where the "another woman" comment came from, but it wasn't me. If I had my choice, I'd nominate Yellow Blue Dog.
But it is too early to think about 2008. We need to concentrate on 2006.
As far as being moderate, that is very nice, but this sight is for aggressive progressives. I want people who will take a stand and stick to it. Thats what Bush did, and a lot of people voted for him.
Maybe we can get you, the Che
Maybe we can get you, the Cheese King, can run as the first woman president. Why not?
Bush ran as a "compassionate conservative". bullshit
He ran as "Christian". bullshit.
He ran as a "fiscal conservative". bullshit
He ran as a "uniter, not a divider". bullshit
If he can do that, we can make you the Cheese Queen.

Sorry! Don't swing in that direction.

A woman in the White House...no time soon!
I'm sick of hearing - put a woman in the White House! Democrats need to change the views of the mostly white, homophobic, uneducated, religious people down here in the South and carry some Red States for change. Let's use some power to educate Southerners. I'm from the South, I can't even believe that ANYBODY down here EVER votes Republican! Republicans don't have anything to offer Southerners, but they feed on their lack of knowledge.
I hope Howard Dean does take the message to all 50 states. It is time to stop letting 18 - 20 states decide this election. If the democrats came down here with a message, I think the South would be listed in the Blue next time. I'm trying down here but definitely need lots of help!
How bout:1) Full Healthca
How bout:
1) Full Healthcare for ALL workers.
2) Full Dentalcare for ALL workers
3) Zero taxes on the first $50,000 of income.
Downside: Those at the top will have less income. At the time of the last election the largest share of National Income since the Depression went to Corporate profits instead of being distributed in wages. Fight for better wages. If that fails take the fight for a FAR better standard of living to the voting booth. VOTE DEMOCRATIC. VOTE FOR YOUR FAMILY INSTEAD OF MORE DECADENCE AT THE TOP! Vote for those who actually labor. Vote for those who offer up their sons and daughters as soldiers to defend this Nation -the middle class and the poor. Vote Democratic!
Let us first find her Convictions
Since Social Jusitice issues are my cause
I look to where the rubber meets the road.
This is not intended to bash but to inform.
Lincoln voted with Bush to pass that terible
Medicare Bill.
Now it was announced on Capital Gang she is
one of the Dems to watch. She and three
others--Baucus Wyden and Conrad --OH yes,
Lieberman are working with the Republicans
to cut a deal on SS.
Even Paul Begala said if these people give
Bush cover on this bill--they should not be
reelected to the Senate.
May I respectfully disagree with trying to
select a potential Candidate based on
geography and these shallow characteristics.
Our Party and the Media have not gotten it
yet. As the Heritage Foundation and
the Republican Think Tanks tell us--Conviction
Politics are here. Here is why Bush won.
As far as I am concerned he is wrong on
practically every issue. Yet he wins
with people voting against their own
interests.Why??? Bush has convictions--
He honestly believes that stuff we
think is downright wrong. Bush is willing
to take risks. How many times have
we stood and watched in amazemnt as he
plows straight ahead ignoring calls from
the Media and others. He gives a strong
impression that he believes he is right
and and is going to do the right thing
irregardless of what others think.
Many in the country are jarred from
Terrorism and all the unsettling changes
in our own country--economy etc.
No matter what we think, he comes across as a
take charge guy who has the convictions and
strength to lead. It is much deeper
than "likeablity". The likeability helps
but it is Convition Politics that
helps him win. He learned this from
his EvangelicalVoters 2 years before
he became President. These voters see
most politicians as talking out of
both sides of their mouth--no convictions.
They will go with a person who has the spine
to stand up and do what he thinks is
right--even if they do not agree with
you on the issues. A set of core values
and a spine is what people are looking
for.
A Democrat who hops over to the Republican side
on an issue like SS does not exactly
fill the bill.
Sorry to be such a downer on this topic but
I have had it with certain of our leaders.
OHLib10, this is what
I've thought for a long time.
GW believes most of the crap he spews
and it shows .He flips off his critics.
The fake-it-till-you-make-it, isn't always
in play. He believes he's right
and a lot of voters go along with it.
It's scary, because it's void of independent thought.
So glad you got what I have been trying
to get across for so long.
Sure it is scary. What is more scary to
me is Our Party's apparent cluelessness.
IMO, we can only start winning when
we stand up with the courage of
our convictions to say "You are
Wrong, Mr President." Show we
believe something based on principle.
AND WE WILL NOT WAIVER.
Our party it appears to me has
gotten entwined in the Beltway
Bubble and listen to the Media
rather than their own conscience.
What people do not understand
is--I am showing my age--
there was a point in our
history when children were
taught "Have the courage of
your convictions." We were
actually graded on it.
People of traditional leanings
believe if you have Convictions
you have a set of principles
which guide your conscience.
If you have courage you will
stand up to adversity to defend
these principles. Leaders must
have these . Traditioanal
does not equate with religious.
Some people seem clueless here.
You can be a Liberal and appreciate
tradition. This must emphasized.
Our party is too quick to say "Me TOO"
rather than saying with a strong
voice --Just a minute--let us think
this through. As a result they
inadvertantly say Republicans are right,
we will make it a little less harsh.
But...

Ah yes, just what we need .....
another DLC democrat from small town America. You are aware that more than 50% of this country lives within 100 miles of the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean's right? That more than 50% come from Urban area's NOT small towns.
That this whole "gotta relate to small town America" crap is just that...CRAP.
America and the Democrats need Progressive voices, populists just look at what happened to NC and KS. The Progressives took back the State party from the DlC'rs. inroads are being made in The red States even as we speak and NOT by the DLC moderates but by the Dean Proggressives.
In Mississippi, last night of the night before a record crowd showed up to the DNC meeting to hear Howard Dean, it was standing room only and the largest growd to attend the $75 a plate meeting in the States history.
WE DON'T NEED NO STINKING DLC Collaborators or anyone interested in 2008 for that matter. We need to take back the house and Senat in 2006, that is the ONLY thing we should be working for.
Tell Hillary, Leiberman, Bayh, Lincoln and Kerry to open their eyes, see that their party has left them behind, now they can either join us or join the Republicans, but no more DLC colaborators EVER!
Anyone want to say.."welcome back Brian"?
Spirituality exists without organized religion
...after the rapture, we get all their stuff!
I've said this before but it
I've said this before but it’s worth repeating. My brother is a Right Wing Communist! Yes he lights up when the War or the Bible are mentioned and was not moved by Kerry's increase of the minimum wage to $7 an hour. (He thought that was still shit). He will tell you however, that CEOs make too damned much money and if that makes him a Communist then he's a Communist!
Moderates MUST recognize that there is a threshold that must be crossed to trump homophobia, prayer in school, etc. THEY DO NOT CROSS IT AND LOSE. Furthermore what LIBERAL is NOT a Moderate? By that I mean, don’t Liberals have sweet and gentle conversations with those they meet? Far Left Bleeding Heart Liberals understand that Grandmamma is uncomfortable renting a room to a Gay couple. There is simply more to say on the matter and it can be said with respect.

Welcome back Brian!
Welcome back Brian!
Also, I trust Dean to be open
Also, I trust Dean to be open to listening to new ideas that the stagnet old DLC would not have given a damn about
...It scares me however that
...It scares me however that not too many Progressives have noted what you just have. In particular that Dean is conservative on Economic issues circa 1990s. The brainwashing runs deep.
What the hell is modern day Conservatism anyway? CHAOS!
I too want someone who will govern our Nation and not rule it. Someone who will not try to destroy those who disagree. Just look at this attempt to get rid of the filibuster. Your opponents sometimes have good ideas and we all share the same land. This will not be a strong Union much longer if Right Wing Judges rule as well. Even scum bags like me contribute to the USA and a hostile, insecure Nation does not a good economy make. We are already turning back real brainpower from our shores.
Mark Warner is a better one i
Mark Warner is a better one if you are looking for a southern Democrat. The people here in Virginia just love him.... But I think now we need to get a way from this... We need real liberals and leaders to run our party.... Don't get me wrong I love my gov but we can't sway to far over. But right now we need to worry about 2005 and 2006 elections.

Kerry Still Strongest candidate for 2008
Kerry is still the strongest candidate for 2008!! He is still fighting hard and has been in Bush's face since the election. WE NEED his integrity and grit in fighting for democratic values. Blanch, Hillary and others will only kiss the GOP's asses. WE need to BEAT their asses!!! JK in 2008!!!
