New Republican Chair Ken Mehlman is Gay

It's a historic day - exactly one day before they inaugurate a Resident who (metaphorically) promised to burn gays at the stake, the Republican Party formally elected a gay man as its chairman!!!

And just last week, Mehlman asked babykilling feminazi Joann Davidson to be his co-chair!!!

Read the congratulations letter from Michael Rogers (pasted below), the proudly gay editor of blogACTIVE.com, who first outed Mehlman.

Of course, you won't find Rogers quoted at RNC.org, where today's article is called "What They're Saying About Ken Mehlman." I wonder what they're really saying about Ken Mehlman?

Last week, the NY Times managed to get this quote about Davidson:

Phil Burress, president of Citizens for Community Values, an Ohio-based conservative Christian group, said, "How in the world can you have a vice chair of the Republican Party on such an important issue as this one be on the wrong side of the party platform?"

Mr. Burress, who led the drive for a constitutional ballot measure banning same-sex marriage in Ohio, also faulted Ms. Davidson for failing to take a position on the measure.

The co-chairwoman of the party during the 2000 election, Patricia Harrison, also supported some abortion rights, but Mr. Burress argued that the 2004 election had changed the party.

"They have got to go," he said. "The pendulum is swinging the other way now. We have a seat at the table now."

Sorry Phil, your seats have been taken by queers and feminazis. Is it time to become a Democrat?

It's relevant because of the GOP homophobic agenda. So, yes, I will take some evil pleasure in this. They made it an issue and should suffer the consequences.

I think hes a feel-good man. Hes cool, smart, swift. Therefore hes gay and queer. Therefore the republican party made him its chairman (anybody who doubts this case and feels mentally antagonized because being gay please lynch George W. Bush).

Bob, I don't get it. I posted a comment two weeks ago pointing this out, and heard nothing but crickets chirping. I guess people don't realize that the party that claims the "moral" highground has a chairman that represents everything they are against.

Falwell ain't gonna be happy about this, and he and his evangelical buddies think they own the party now.

This ought to be fun to watch.

He gave Ken Blackwell the authorization to use gay marriage as a wedge issue in Ohio.

"They're clearly using it as a wedge issue," said Brendon Cull, a spokesman for the Ohio Democratic Party. "John Kerry and John Edwards have made it very clear that they believe marriage is between a man and a woman. George Bush stood up in front of this country four years ago - almost to the week - and said he wanted to be a uniter and not a divider. But like Bill Clinton said, they want the country divided because they know they can't win if we're not."

Blackwell said it was "an activist court in Massachusetts" - which ruled last November that the state could not ban same-sex-marriages - that set the stage for the national debate, not any Republican campaign committee.

"All things flow from there," said Blackwell, who said he was asked by Bush campaign manager Ken Mehlman earlier this year to do "surrogate work" on gay marriage in Ohio.

"The notion that this is a wedge issue is nonsense," he said. "This has become a real public policy issue."
