Mid-Term electionsAre there senate and house seat elections slated for 2006? If so, then is there any way to find out which seats are up for graps in which states? I'm thinking the democratic is energized and miffed BIGTIME by this election - and by the insanity of the religious right and their far-out leaders and agenda - that we have a chance to funnel that into a HUGE turnout in select congressional races. By targeting those vulnerable republicans in more demcratic - or balanced - regions, I think we have a chance to retake the senate, and possibly the house too. (Let's face it: Bush and his actions are going to be his worst enemy going forward.) This election saw a handful of vulnerable democrats fall in hard core red states, and there have to be a large number of reublicans in an equally vulnerable position when it comes to their turn to vote. I think we should bottle this anger and maintain our discipline and focus on this 'what comes next' approach. PS if a republican posts, then ignore them. Don't respond. Don't read. Stay focused. Kevin.

How do we win back congressional seats and other offices
How do we win ..We get those county Democrat chairman off their duff in every state..and get this party organized..this means better qualified leaders from the precincts all the way up to the state level. Then we get qualified candidates to fill those elective office slots..Now I agree that we must keep this momentum going..But just a foot note..There is no doubt in my mind that George Bush won this election without the aid of electronic voter fraud. There is no way in hell that GB would have gotten this margin of victory the old fashioned way by earning the votes honestly.
Thank You
Recently, I have taken advantage of this forum to express frustration and outrage over the moral bankruptcy of this administration and the hypocrisy of the religious self-righteous. How they used 9/11 to prey on the weak of heart and mind with all their fear mongering was appalling. Especially, since I was in NYC that awful day.
It heartens me to see people like yourself thinking strategically and not emotionally. We need people like you to keep us focused so that we can do great things for our country. Keep it up and stay positive!
Do what the Republicans did. First rebuild the party...
...from the grass roots activists on up. Then we go on the Sunday morning talk shows and hold the Republicans accountable for everything they promised the religious right. Our message to them ought to be, when are you going to ban abortion, when are you going outlaw sodomy, when are you going to keep your promise to the people who put you in office. You wanna see some Republicans squirm? Meanwhile we talk about borrow and spend conservatism, about fiscal responsibility, and tax reform the way it ought to be done, which is not just to take from the rich but to give a real break to the working poor. My Libertarian friend, Larry Klepinger, who ran for Congress in Bellingham. has a great proposal we ought to adopt, it eliminates taxes altogether on the first $25,000 of income per person, regardless of whether it's wages, dividends, or capital gains, and then graduates it upward to to a reasonable percentage on the upper income brackets. It covers the lost payroll tax with a value added tax on consumption. . Id leave it up to the CBO to run the numbers on it and get the rates lined up with what the tax receipts need to be, but its a damn good proposal that eliminates the need for a lot of deductions.
