VP Barbie: Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes
Who can think of a charity that helps feed or house people with thousand dollar designer outfits?
$150G From GOP For Fashions For Palins?
Oct. 22, 2008 (CBS) Since she's been on the campaign trail, Sarah Palin has received a lot of attention over her wardrobe, her hair, even her glasses.
Now, Politico.com is reporting the Republican National Committee has spent more than $150,000 on clothes and accessories for Palin and her family.
Politico says the expenditures began early last month, soon after Palin was picked by John McCain to be his running mate.
Palin frequently wears expensive designer clothes on the campaign trail now, points out CBS News correspondent Meg Oliver.
Spending records filed with the Federal Election Commission and obtained by Politico show the RNC paid for "campaign accessories" from upscale department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, where nearly $50,000 was spent, Neiman Marcus, $75,000, and $4,700 for hair and makeup.
"The problem with this for the campaign," explains Politico Chief Political Writer Mike Allen, "is it's the kind of thing that can stick in people's minds. At a time when they're cutting back on their own spending, they see a candidate looking extravagant."
And that, observes Oliver, could pose a political risk.
In 2000, Al Gore was criticized for changing his look by wearing clothes with earth tones. Two years ago, Hillary Clinton got some attention for two hair styling sessions that cost $2,500. And of course there were those $400 haircuts John Edwards got.
"This would," Allen says, "make the John Edwards haircut look like a bargain at the same time she's (Palin's) trying to connect with Joe and Jane the Plumber."
The McCain campaign released a statement late Tuesday night saying, "With all the important issues facing the country right now, it's remarkable that we're spending time talking about pantsuits and blouses. It was always the intent that the clothing go to a charitable purpose after the campaign."
Politico told CBS News it hasn't been able to identify any similar expenditures on the Democratic side.

Sarah Palin
Another good example of her belief that all she has to do is, be able to see it, she becomes an instant self proclaimed authority. I asked my 7 year old the following question: " Grant, do you see a blue car parked in our driveway? He said yes he did. I asked him to tell me what kind of car it was. He told me it's a blue car pepaw."
He knew it was a car, but he didn't know what kind it was. But he sure knew it was a car. Will that qualify him for a future automotive career with the government?
At least Sarah will look
At least Sarah will look good while being "in charge" of the Senate:

Harry will also need some new work clothes: janitor's overalls. Maybe the DLC will supply them.
Vice President
Can't you viisualize our present VP sitting in a tree-stand replica in the Senate Chamber, with his trusty 'Remington semi-automatic 12 ga. shotgun, choked barrel, over and under design. Occassionally mixing in with the Senate procedures , with his trusty 12 ga., butt perched on his hip, pointing the barrel straight up with his arm extended to support the shotgun. The shotgun loaded with '00' buck shot from his hunting vest, purchased from the Army Surplus store back in his home town. Probably paid for by "we the people".
Imagine into the future for a moment, the VP again in the Senate Chamber, except this time SHE is wearing a special designed hunting outfit, purchased at SAKs of New York, paid for by "we the people". She is also wearing a designer gun belt, designed especially for her, the holster bears the Alaska state emblem, and the White Pearl Handled 9mm Smith&Wesson , with extended clip capacity, no safety strap in case a fast draw incident should arise, lt has diamond studded names of her family and all her children, playingt hockey, etched into the virgin moose leather from one of her latest kills. Once again, "we the people" get to pay the cost of her outfit and accessories. Mixing in on the Senate floor saying to everyone she addresses, " You know that this is only a temporary assignment for me, I expect to move to the White House pretty soon, work with me now, I'll remember you when I'm the 'Big Cheif in Command'. Then I'll explain what the 'BIG CHEIF in COMMAND' is required to do!
Yet Barack and Michelle Obama, as well as Joe and Jill Biden
have no clothing allowance.
And they look damn good!
