Palin is awash in trouble

As of this writing we have: (thanks to Chip for his valuable input!)

Palin's membership in an apocalyptic, militant, neopentecostal dominionist movement called Joel's Army  (unless she repudiates the group, which is unlikely, this could be an extremely serious liability!)

Palin's membership in a radical right stealth group called "Feminists For Life"

Palin's apparent sympathies for and possible connections to the Alaska Independence Party, a secessionist group

Reports that Palin used a government "per diem" allowance to charge her state for more than 300 nights spent at home and spent another $43,490 on travel for her children and husband.

A brewing scandal involving her firing of a police chief: Troopergate aka the impending "October Surprise"

The revelation that Palin's 17-year old unwed daughter is 5-months pregnant (not likely to appeal to evangelicals who prefer abstinence to unprotected teen sex)

Brewing mini-scandals like "Broken Water-gate"

A news interview in which Palin asks, What is it that the VP does anyway?

Reports that she has made many enemies of both parties in the Alaskan state legislature

Reports that she is a poor administrator

The news (from Stephanopoulous) that she was for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it.

Her assertion that "the founding fathers" put "Under God" in The Pledge of Allegiance

Her implication that energy independence can be achieved solely through domestic drilling.

Her questionable involvement with a 527 group for Sen Stevens

Palin's earmark requests: more per person than any other state

Clearly, this is not a candidate who was well-vetted, let alone qualified for the job of VP.

If this doesn't reflect on McCain's poor judgment, and his sense of desperation, then I don't know what does.

Where

did you hear that her daughter is pregnant?  Also, do you know where I could find a clip of that interview?  I think it would be interesting to listen to.

Haruka, here is a link from Reuters

this story was listed on my Yahoo homepage.

The clip you asked for:

Check the news on the Internet. Palin already released a statement verifying that her daughter is pregnant, and hours ago McCain told reporters that he knew about it before he chose Palin as his running mate.

In my opinion, the sum total of all the developments I noted in my previous post, starting with that membership in a secessionist party, spell

C-A-T-A-S-T-R-O-P-H-E

for the McCain campaign.

Sarah Palin's daughter's pregnancy

Republican moral values & Palin

A candidate’s moral values and character are salient issues in presidential elections, so the Republicans have been preaching for 30 years now. Their casual wave off about one of Gov. Palin’s unwed teen daughter’s advanced pregnancy with,  “Why they’re so normal;  it happens in so many families,”  is such a lame inane copout.

So, a potential VP’s daughter is to have a shotgun marriage to an 18 yr old local “stud” who lacks skills and wherewithal to support three.

Millions of teenage girls DON’T get pregnant. National Center for Health Statistics reports a decline in teen sexual behavior and teen pregnancy. Most teens’ behavior and their moral anchors rest upon their parents guidance and influence.

What is there lacking within the Palin household that compelled one of their girls to seek a moment's intense affection down the street? Her parents’ characters and values?

Palin highlights perils of Design by Committee

The whole reason the Republicans are in the mess they're in can be summed up in four words:

Threat of intra-party fraticide.

Palin's nomination is yet another reminder of the perils of "design by committee."

Although none of his choices lacked liabilities, McCain would have been better off if the evangelicals had left him alone and allowed him to choose Lieberman.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/02/us/politics/02vetting.html?ref=us

McCain would have probably lost no matter who he chose, but you can count on him to nurse a grudge against the evangelicals and blame the Palin fiasco on them for the rest of his life.

Nibbles on Palin

I ran across this post as a comment over at ABCNews.com. So, let's skip the salacious diversions - who da baby/babies' mama/daddy - and go right for the juice.
Here are a few places to investigate on Palin:

  1. the fact that she's being investigated by the State of Alaska on charges of abuse of power, involving SEVERAL instances where according the special prosecutor in which she may have been complicit, which are substantially more serious that she had first led the McCain camp to believe IS news.(abuse of power/dishonesty)
  2. the fact that Gov. Palin has taken $27 million in earmarks IS news; (pandering/corruption)
  3. the fact that Gov. Palin was the DIRECTOR of indicted Sen. Ted Stevens' 527 and raised millions for him, IS news; (corrupt)
  4. the fact that Gov. Palin ran up a $20 million debt when she was mayor of a small town IS news.(misuse of authority)
  5. The fact that Gov. Palin was a member of the Buchanan Brigade IS news. (Anti-Semitic conservative, Nazi sympathizer)

  6. the fact that Gov. Palin is a member of Alaskans for Independence Party IS news;(sedition/treason)
  7. the fact that Gov. Palin is a NeoPentacostal Dominionist which is a church that preaches purging the Earth of all non-Christians by a specially anointed army of God (starting with the Jews), IS news; (religious fanaticism)
  8. Those Dominionists have interesting funding sources.
  9. The fact that as a teen Gov. Palin played a leading role as a member of said army (Joel's Army or the Army of the Third Wave-which most Christian theologians consider heretical in nature) IS news....

OK, I started; you go.

EEEP!!

Okay, I'm officially scared now. McCain's choice already bothered me, but the fact the Palin apparently would happily have both my brother and I killed because we're not Christians really bothers me. How in the world did McCain and his people miss this, and if they didn't why did they think we would? While Christianity is, I think, the majority religion in the U.S., fundy nuts like her aren't all that common. I think that her stances are really going to hurt his campaign if we can get them publicized.
BTW, where did you find this info?

Haruka

Check the comment link. I can't link more directly; it was toward the top of that page.

>"...fundy nuts like her aren't all that common."

Sorry to say, I don't think this is not an accurate statement. I'll have to get back with you on an explanation. In the meantime, why not check out some of the other leads?

Palin: "Sambo beat the bitch"

Here's something that's not ready for prime time, but certainly food for thought:

“So Sambo beat the bitch!”

This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

According to Lucille, the waitress serving her table at the time and who asked that her last name not be used, Gov. Palin was eating lunch with five or six people when the subject of the Democrat’s primary battle came up. The governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, uttered the slur and then laughed loudly as her meal mates joined in appreciatively.

“It was kind of disgusting,” Lucille, who is part Aboriginal, said in a phone interview after admitting that she is frightened of being discovered telling folks in the “lower 48” about life near the North Pole.

Palin's foreign policy "experience": speaking in tongues?

According to the WSJ:

At the Pentecostal church where Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin worshipped for more than two decades, congregants speak in tongues and are part of a faith that believes humanity is in its "end times" -- the days preceding a world-ending cataclysm bringing Christian redemption and the second coming of Jesus.

Questions: Has Sarah Palin herself ever spoken in tongues?

Do we want a person who dreams of the End Time putting her finger on the nuclear button?

Once Elected, Palin Hired Friends and Lashed Foes
By JO BECKER, PETER S. GOODMAN and MICHAEL POWELL

Throughout her political career, she has pursued vendettas, fired officials who crossed her and sometimes blurred the line between government and personal grievance, according to a review of public records and interviews with 60 Republican and Democratic legislators and local officials.
