These are a few of my favorite things!

Adversity is something that Barack Obama knows all too well. He has fought and won some battles along the way earning him a place in our history books for years to come. During his eight years in the Illinois state Senate, Obama worked with both Democrats and Republicans to help working families get ahead by creating programs like the state Earned Income Tax Credit, which in three years provided over $100 million in tax cuts to families across the state. Obama also pushed through an expansion of early childhood education, and after a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama enlisted the support of law enforcement officials to draft legislation requiring the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.

While these battles rage on I have found another fighter that I hope will earn her place in the annals of political history as well. She is the first woman to run in a first district Kentucky congressional race. Her name is Heather Ryan. She was fired from her job at a non profit organization by Mitch McConnell because her daughter asked him a question he did not like. She faced the loss of her job with her head held high and decided that she could make a difference in Kentucky by running against Ed Whitfield. She has had a real fight on her hands in this race. She has had her hand painted signs destroyed by Whitfield staff, and she has been smeared for supporting battered women. To learn more about Heather go to: http://www.ryanforkentucky.com/

Exxon Eddie has more money and influence, his money and power are promoting this chaos. It makes it easy for him to ‘crush’ the efforts of the Ryan campaign. His people are paid employees, Heather has volunteers. How does someone fight Big Money and Special Interests? After all, he is just trying to save his special interest contributions, whereas Heather is trying to save Kentuckians.
