To Cloudancer & Jim, I will admit that I fell down on the job. But as a teenager becoming a US Citizen I can tell you that the  US electoral system is not adequately explained. Even after all these years I still don't understand the Electoral College, but have now decided that I will try again to make my voice heard.

If you have not gone through the naturalization process you have no right to put me down. It is very easy to be highminded if you have not experienced the reality. My thoughts are that if you were born in the US, the country was stuck with you. I was accepted.

As for your response to the other comments, all native-born Americans are schooled in the mechanics of our Constitution, and the electoral system it produced. While some of us may not thoroughly "understand it," we are proud that it is the very best system of Representative Democracy the world has yet to witness. And, yes it is a "model for the world" to aspire to.

Your snide, and uncalled-for remark about the USA being "stuck with" native-born Americans, while you were "accepted," reeks of typical British elitism. That is one of the reasons we kicked your collective asses in the Revolutionary War. The other was your screwed up allegiance to an immoral monarch. We are very proud to have become "failed colonials."

Glass houses, and all that rot...

We have many readers.

Most are natural born citizens.

Some of them don't vote.

My comments were meant to apply across the board ;)

As to being "high minded" without having gone through the "experience" I can only say that most of us probably do not know the horrors that some of us have had to go through in life. It is probably therefore best not to assume.

Anyway, as I said before, the world is better off with each of us putting out 2 cents in.

Jim
