McCain Effed his military subordinatesSo says the US Veteran's Dispatch. Maybe we should be discussing presidential candidates who are breaking military ethics codes when they carouse -- because it DOES matter:
Republicans have a whole helluvalot of nerve running this POS for president while carrying on sanctimoniously about Edwards. Favoritism and effing your subordinates. Not pretty. And the following video offers some truths about McCain. At about 13:40, he admits to being a failure and breaking the military's code of conduct when he signed a confession and squealed to his captors, and at about 43:35, he speaks face-to-face with the author of The Nightingale's Song but did not utter one syllable of denial regarding the accusation that McCain effed subordinates - which, in my book, is an admission. About the author: Robert Timberg is a graduate of Annapolis and a marine veteran of Vietnam. He is an author and journalist and has worked at "The Baltimore Sun" for three decades as a reporter, editor and White House correspondent. He is currently deputy chief of the "Sun's" Washington bureau. Timberg is also the author of "The Nightingale's Song" and "John McCain, An American Odyssey. His book was one of Times Magazines best books of the year.

McCain's confession
I don't really think that we should hit McCain on the confession he gave to his captors in Vietnam. He was tortured and he broke. There are many other things we can use to show that he isn't the stand-up man he pretends to be, without using a confession that was given under extreme duress. I think that the only people who can legitamately go after McCain for that are those who have been through the same thing.
He's wanting to be CIC
where should I hit him?
Are you telling me that his being a traitor is okay?
Do you think it's okay to ignore that when he's running on his 'experience?' What experience do you think he's talking about?
Experience
You can say that that isn't good experience for becoming CIC. You can certainly say that he doesn't necessarily have the experience necessary. I simply don't feel right attacking McCain about what he did as the result of being tortured.
He wasn't tortured
by his own definition. Moreover, he had POW records sealed in Hanoi so that we'll never know how big his whoppers were. His bones were broken when he bailed from his aircraft wrong. He was pulled out of the water by Vietnamese. He received medical care that most of our men in his condition did not get because he told them who his daddy was and because he cracked and sang to them.
If he's an honorable POW, let's see the records. Otherwise, why is a hero hiding them? It's a very pertinent issue and if I thought for one minute that he was really tortured and his service was honorable, I'd reconsider.
I don't. I have no reason to. Honorable men don't hide their service records. Just ask Kerry.
I didn't know
about his records being sealed. Obviously you know more about this issue than I do. I'm going to bow to your greater knowledge and let this issue rest.
Haruka
It's been a while. Welcome back.
I've spent a lot of time on this. The republicans are going to start with their swiftboating crapola soon and I wanted to be prepared. Of this we can be certain: If John McCain doesn't think waterboarding is torture, his treatment certainly wasn't.
True
I certainly won't argue with you there. I wonder how McCain would react if he was asked about that. He would probably get very upset, wouldn't he?
If McSame had been an Enlisted Man
and not an officer plus the son of an admiral, he would have been court-martialed. Read the US Veterans' Dispatch. There is an article of two enlisted Green Berets who were captured, tortured and gave statements to the NVA/VC. They didn't get off as easily as McSame.
McSame likes to complain in his ads that Obama is a celebrity. McSame has used his "POW status" for this claim to celebrity status.
McSame is a champion POS. A liar, adulterer, and a major flip-flopper. And to add insult to injury, the a..hole does not support legislation that would benefit veterans. Remember this a..hole said the US was already very generous to veterans. He must have been thinking of himself. He gets $57K, tax-free, every year. Even with the millions the POS has in his pockets, he tries to stiff the people of California by not paying property taxes on one of the 9 residencies he owns.
As with all conservanazi republikans, he's a major hypocrite. ;0

Similarities of McCain and Powell
Studying the backgrounds of John McCain and Colin Powell I am struck by the similarities of how each climbed their respective ladders. They were (and are) crafty operators of the system. Read Powell"s auto-bio and you'll note how easily he manipulated the Army officer corps for quick promotions then used his cool-cat approach with the politicos' and the MSM later on. Similarly,McCain used, and continues to use, his Vietnam War experiences with heavy emphasis on the POW days as he trips daintly through the tulips. He is a war survivor, as many of us are, not a war hero.
