Upcoming oregon primary/healthcare issueHello. I just joined and don't know how this works. I am voting in the upcoming democratic primary in Oregon and I over relied on the League of Women Voters phamplet and it doesn't have enough information to help with my issue, though I am grateful for all they do. I am for socialized medicine. There, I said the much misunderstood and maligned word. I think because of its bad rep thanks to continuing media assault over decades, they are calling it single payer plans, which I don't completely get. Anyway, in OR candidates for "better healthcare coverage" are hopping onto Senator Wyden's plan, criticism I have read being it helps corporations, won't get the job done. There don't seem to be any candidates in Oregon declaring for single payer plan. So who do I vote for, do I not vote for the ones not advocating single payer, when they are the only demos running? What do you advise? I would like to mention that everything in current healthcare is tied to work, but not everyone is a worker, nor are all elderly able to get free medicare. For those without social security income, the buy in for medicare is $400 a month. The election is May 20th, this coming Tuesday, so would really appreciate some advice as to what to do. andrea15

Oregon primary and healthcare
Also, could someone explain the difference between OBama's healthcare plan and Clinton"s?
Are either single payer plans? Why do we have to continue with all these divisions in healthcare coverage, with one group getting one thing, another something else. With this alot of people fall thru cracks because you can never account for all the contingincies that come with the human condition. As well, our current systems assure that we will have a huge and costly bureaucrazy to administer it. And what is this with thinking the job has been done if the children are taken care of? When is this country going to think clearly and adopt the systems already in place for decades in most of the world. I currently fall thru the cracks, and haven't seen a doctor in many years. Even in Africa, I could be seen in a clinic, etc.
Sorry, I get heated about this.

Andrea, you might want to check out both...
Hillary and Obama's websites. At least you get a glimpse of what they are thinking about.
Of the two, Hillary's plan is more comprehensive and she is more open to full single-payer coverage for all.
Sad part is that either would have to get the plan going in the congress where the bill would have to be written and hopefully passed.
Wyden's plan seems to keep the insurance companies involved--which is the wrong way to go.
Hillary has worked on health care for over 20 years and has the experience and knowledge to get a better plan passed.

Yes, Grinch, this further reassures me that supporting Hillary is the right thing for the country. Any suggestions as to whether I should vote for DeFazio and Merkley, both of whom are aligning with Wyden. Totally agree with you that that plan keeps the insurance co.'s in plan; I had expected better from Wyden. There are not alot of choices, and I am completely at sea re: the judicial elections. Can't find any info about those. So do I not vote for Defazio and group, or what?

Healthcare and oregon primary may 20th
Let me just explain again with reference to whether to vote for candidates, that the ones in question are generally the only choice, as in case of DeFazio, or the best of the group they are in, even though they are not in agreement with what I am wanting. So is the best strategy to just not vote in those races, or to go ahead and do so?
