I agree the hand counted votes via the 'Urkraine method' that are controlled by local precincts (and perhaps also videotaped for good measure) sounds like the way to go.

As you may have noted the Republicans recently defeated a bill to have paper ballot verifications for elections. There is a huge concern that election results have not been accurate, particularly in the last two presidential elections.

When polls say that Senator McCain is running equal with Democratic candidates, even though most Americans do not support the war, one has to wonder if the electorate is being 'set up' for a false result in November. This is particularly a concern when very biased pollsters like Frank Lutz are observed kowtowing to right wing pundits in the media. Additionally, Karl Rove has been reported to have used black mail tactics to influence the govenor's election in Alabama--if this report is accurate, there is no reason to think that he would not apply these tactics to influence other votes and elections. The documentary "Hacking Democracy" presented clear evidence that voting results have been tampered with, most recently in Florida and Ohio.

What actions can citizens take to combat these frauds? Will democrats make sure there are exit polls at every voting place--especially where there are no paper ballot trails?

Without accurate voting results, we do not have a democracy. This issue should supercede all other issues in importance.

Andy, you have posted this exact same word-for-word message numerous times, and in numerous forums on Democrats.com, and it's little wonder that no one ever responds to you.

Election dates (with the exception of the quadrennial General Election), methods of voting, and the equipment used, are established by each individual State. There is no "uniform" standard that the States must follow, and the Federal Government has no power to direct the various States on voting procedures.

And for your information, yes -- all of these questions have been asked, over and over. The problem, as I have explained above, is that they need to be asked 50 different times, to 50 different State Legislatures and Governors.

I suggest that you expand your "single-issue" posts to other areas of concern, and address more pressing and solvable problems. You may want to start with a campaign to change the voting procedures in your own State.

I agree that elections should be held for a month or two weeks not one day...in order to maximize voter turn out. it is frustrating that we can obtain accurate telephone results for American Idol votes but not for our presidential election. due to the grave concerns about fraud, we should keep in mind the reality that each layer of added technology, vote transfer and secrecy, is a potential for fraud. The clear box 'ukraine method' described by Jenny sounds like it has the least potential for fraud. At the end of each voting day, reps from each party should hand count votes openly and a publicly posted tally should be made available to record the results.
