Bridging The Gap: Making It Happen
An Organizers Conference
The Troops Have the Power to Stop the War

Politicians can't be counted on to halt the bloodshed, the troops have the power to stop the war! This is an organizers conference for people who wish to act together to bridge the gap between civilians and members of the Armed Forces by direct contact. This conference is being sponsored by The Military Project, with the assistance of Traveling Soldier (www.travelingsolder.com) and GI Special (www.militaryproject.org).

Come witness first hand reports on the sentiment of the armed forces against the wars and outreach to the troops in a presentation given by Fabian Bouthillette, former U.S. Naval Officer, and member of Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) & The Military Project. Fabi states: "We must work to build a bond with those members of the armed forces who are against the war. They have the power to end a war that our politicians have shown little interest in ending."

Garett Reppenhagen and J.D. Englehart, both members of IVAW will talk about their experiences with GI resistance in Iraq, and how civilian outreach can help reach soldiers and marines who are against the occupation and may step forward to join in the ever-growing movement within the ranks of the military to end the war.

Daniel Joseph Black, IVAW, who reports "We never swore to obey, we swore to defend," will point out that troops swear to protect and defend the Constitution, and "if defending requires our disobedience of an autocratic war criminal, then we are so bound by our oath."

Richard Boyle, Vietnam War Reporter, and author of "Flower of the Dragon", which recounts the resistance during the war and the breakdown of the U.S. Army in Vietnam will discuss his eyewitness accounts detailing the cause and effect of uprisings throughout the ranks.

Listen to Clarence Thomas, Local 10, The International Longshore and Warehouse Union, San Francisco, talk about how Iraq Veterans, active duty troops and union members can join together to do what the politicians refuse to do: bring all the troops home now.

All are welcome to come and hear what it will take to bridge the gap between the anti-war civilian movement and the resistance movement within the military. Outreach to active duty military members will be discussed, analyzed and examined by organizers who will be sharing inside knowledge on how to accomplish this, forging new alliances and creating a structure to achieve the common liberation of troops and civilians that can bring all of our troops home now!
