Instruments For Peace is a network of professional musicians and friends. We would like to sponser/co-sponser an Iraq Town Hall Meeting in Austin, Tx. [see instrumentsforpeace.org ]
We work with lots of great local groups and individuals. Together we get GREAT media. We musicians simply use our professional talents and skills. Others do what they are good at. [suggestions: 1.Organize within your own profession. 2.Talk to your local music/entertainment professionals for professional p.r. assistance or advice.]
Let's grow a popular, mass movement. Everybody welcome and needed.

Forming planning committee for District 25 Town Hall

In TX-25 our issue with regard to our Congressional representation is a bit different than it is in the other two districts that reach into Austin. In those districts, Mike McCaul and Lamar Smith are Republicans, and need to be informed that they must start voting against funding the war and in favor of bringing our troops home. In the 25th, however, we have a Democrat who already does the routine stuff. He votes against funding and in favor of adding timetables for withdrawal, and he makes nice pretty speeches about getting out of Iraq, but he refuses to stand in favor of impeachment or taking any other hard lines on holding the Bush administration accountable for its crimes, or to take any other measures that will put real pressure on them to pay heed to the will of the people.

I plan to challenge Doggett for his seat in November. If the Green Party can achieve ballot access in Texas, I will be on the ballot for that seat. I have already won the party's nomination. We need to band together to let Doggett know that he cannot take us for granted just because we won't vote for a Republican. We must pressure him from the left. We must let him know that the voice of the people should still matter in this country, and that we need a representative who will actually represent us. I am offering to be that representative.

Therefore, I want to plan a town hall meeting in the 25th district, for the people of the 25th, to make their voices heard and their opinions known. To do this right, we need a planning committee of no less than five, and preferably closer to ten people to organize the event. Email me at trimble_for_25@yahoo.com or real.democracy@yahoo.com if you are interested.

Peace,
Scott Trimble
