Who would you vote for if...

In 2000 many democrats belive that Nadar took enough votes from Gore to cause him to loose the election. In 1992 most republicans feel that H. Ross Perot gave Bill Clinton a gift. Is there ever a time when a 3rd party or independant candidate would get YOUR vote?

Say Al Gore were to run as a Green or Independant pushing his environmental agenda? Or if John Edwards looses the primary and were to team up with Wesley Clark or even Chuck Hagel or some other well respected liberal republican to run as an independant? Maybe even a 3rd party playing to both republicans and democrats?

I'm wondering just how dissatisfied the country really is?

Let's say we wind up with Hillary Clinton against Rudy Guiliani? Can a 3rd choice win? Who would you be willing to vote for as an alternative to that matchup?

Or would you vote democrat regardless of the choice?

Cloud, I would hold my nose

Cloud, I would hold my nose and vote for the Democrat -- regardless of who that may be. A little American Liberalism is better than none at all.

As I have said in the past, I am much more concerned with getting more real Democrats elected to Congress, than I am with who sits in the Oval Office.

Interesting options

I applaud your allegiance but I am not sure I can be that faithful. I am not a yellow dog democrat and I am sure not a republican. I am just an American. Given a choice of options I would have to decide what I considered the best choice for the country. If I were given a 3rd choice for president that seemed to me to be a better candidate to do thejob I would seriously consider voting for them.

As for Congress, I am very disappointed with the whole lot. Other than Dodd, no one has shown their brass ones this year. It seems like the tough leaders we elected in 06 are like spaghetti, as soon as you put a little heat on them they turn to rubber.

I can't argue with your choice, I'm just not sure I can live it. To quote a fictional sage, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore."

I hear ya, but from a

I hear ya, but from a "pragmatic" standpoint, the next president will be either a Democrat or a Republican. I have to go with the Democrat -- warts and all.

Not that dissatisfied yet

to vote for Al Gore as a 3rd party candidate or any of the others, including Edwards, whom I favor. I don't think it's the Democratic party that's at fault, but the ones who are in charge of it right now, i.e. Pelosi, Reid, Lieberman, Clinton. What would we get in the long run with a 3rd party? If it became the Progressive Party and the Democratic party just up and died completely, that would be okay with me, as long as it's the true party of the opposition. But it doesn't 'feel' like that yet; there are still some strong Democrats out there; Edwards, Dodd, Kucinich ( he's a good Democrat ), maybe Jim Webb, Feingold, Gore and some others. I don't think it's time for the Democratic party to go the way of the Whigs.

And now we have two new candidates...

both wanna be president:

Green Party: Cynthia McKinney

Republics(?): Mike Bloomberg

Have fun kiddos, its gonna be a wild ride.

A mind once expanded can never return to its original dimensions.

Anne Hathaway: 1556-1623

The greatest derangement of the mind is to believe in something because one wishes it to be so.

Grinch, I wish the ride was

going to be "wild." That would be the next best thing to a Progressive victory. I worry that the whole thing ( primaries and election) will be as predictable as the 2004 nominations and election, which I felt in my gut were already scripted and fixed, regardless of who ran or who really won the vote count. I don't see that much has changed in a practical way this time around. We had Dean telling the truth back then and Edwards speaking it now, but to what avail? Kerry prevailed then, and so will Hillary or Obama this time probably. It's like the difference between waves and currents; one is visible and exciting, while the other goes on underneath and does the actually moving and carrying. Progressive waves; corporate currents. Wild on the surface; a done-deal below.

I'm voting Kucinich:)

Kathy, those numbers make me weep.

Let's get rid of the *&^%^ electoral college!

It's long overdue.

I'm a life long feisty

I'm a life long feisty democrat who has battled against the bush regime every since he thought (or we knew of) invading Iraqi, I've defended President Clinton (note I say President because he was elected into the white house while bush stole it twice) well known fact yet nobody has done a thing about it. Back to President Clinton, I've defended him and won on debates, (which ain't easy in Indiana:) But I've found a man I truly believe will save this Nation and will bring back the word compassion.

Dennis Kucinich has answers, (he doesn't flip flop) he has solutions, He has refused any and all corporate money, (the only one to my knowledge) Other than poor Paul Wellstone Dennis is the only one who voted against the invasion of Iraqi. If Dennis ends up running on an independent ticket, I'm following the man, not the party. I refuse to take the lesser of 2 evils when there is a good man willing to take the job.

I want a people's President that will work for us working peons, not another corporate puppet.

In Order to Take Back Congress and the White House

The past is prologue.....we have learned in the past that a "3rd" party candidate spells disaster unless it is a candidate running as an independent against the GOP.

We may not be pleased with our party, but it is our party and we have to give it all we have to get the White House and Congress back into the hands of the Democratic Party.

Just the thought of a 3rd party candidate is outrageous.  Al Gore is not going to run for president, period.

Please, whoever the candidate for president may be, we must all be committed to the Democratic party if we want to stop this runaway Congress and President.
