Concerned Citizens of Columbus Weekly Anti-War Demonstration
EVENTS
VENUE:
NW corner of Veterans Pkwy & 11th St
11th St
Columbus, GA 31901
starts: 11/17/2007 - 11:00am
ends: 11/17/2007 - 12:00pm
Concerned Citizens of Columbus Georgia gather at the corner of Veterans Pkwy & 11th St. every Saturday, as we have since March 2007, from 11 AM to 12 noon to protest George's War in Iraq. (We don't gather if it rains, but it hasn't rained this hour a single Saturday since we started!) We intend to continue our protest until the war ends.
We believe you do not "support the troops" if you ask them to die in an illegal war which has nothing to do with protecting our nation and its freedoms. Here at the home of Ft. Benning, we believe that those who choose to serve in our military should be honored for their service, despite any political differences we may have personally, and that they are due the full range of veterans' benefits our nation has promised them.
We refuse to concede our national flag to the rightwing chickenhawks whose arrogant actions have so debased it. As proud Americans, and especially proud of the veterans who are active in our group, we honor our flag and the Constitution it represents.
We are active citizens, not some fringe element still clinging to the 1960's. It is truly gratifying to see the level of support from those -- including the many military -- who drive by our protest each week. We invite all citizens concerned about the state of our nation under Bush/Cheney reactionary rule to join us while you still have the freedom to do so!
