Former Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) is expected to announce Thursday that he is resigning his seat in Congress effective later this year, eventually setting up a special election to succeed him, knowledgeable GOP sources said late Wednesday.

That makes 16 Republicans that have choose to cut and run rather than face the voter's wrath in 11/08. But then what would you expect from a terrified flock of chicken hawks.

Let's hope the newly elected Democrats aren't really "Republican light" like Lieberman. So many liberal Democrats have left their basic beliefs to become Republicans (and Fascists).
Even if we win we lose because of false intensions\lies by candidates. They seem to want unending war, torture, spying, privitization, world government, loss of the Constitution, no lawyers or rights, open borders and illegals, etc. What are they thinking or are they "thinking" at all? They are lawless right now.
I think they are cutting and running with their plunder. It's called "change of face law". When and if we gain control of our government they don't want to answer for their crimes. Their crimes of treason and plunder are many.
From what I've seen on other sites...
there may be some strong Cunningham connections that are forcing Hastert out.

Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert confirmed Thursday that he won't complete his 11th term in the House -- and may resign before his term is over.
Hastert told reporters that he thinks he'll be "gone by the first of the year."
Earlier, in a floor speech that he said would be his last, he offered a farewell to his colleagues, and indicated that his resignation would come soon.

Yesterday, Leader Pelosi wished the X speaker good bye and Congress honored him. He's not leaving right away as thought. It was an open agreement not to punish him from what I can tell. HONORED HIM! Are they living in a different world?
Hastert held up and had his "enforcer..the Hammer" Tom DeLay strong arm Congress people to vote their way or else. He stopped bills from coming to the floor which both party members supported by a large majority. The late night votes for Patriot Act, etc. were full of threats and manipulation. This House leader was one of the most corrupt in our long history yet they honor him? Shouldn't he be leaving in shame? Shouldn't he be paying back the tax payers for his windfall over that land deal? Didn't he commit fraud (and other Constitutional crimes) while in public office?
"Change of face law" works well in our Congress doesn't it. They seem to have an "agreement" to look the othr way regarding Hastert. The media is of the same cloth. Not even the so called "liberal" media mentioned the criminal aspects of Hastert's time in office. Dennis Hastert a high school teacher as a partriot and leader? Sorry about the insult to teachers.
