Al GoreAl Gore will be more valuable to the nation by continuing the campaign to keep climate-change andglobal warming before industry, Congress and the President, regardless of the results of the 2008election. He has the brilliance of Jefferson, the determination of John Adams and the curiosity andentrepreneurship of Ben Franklin. He can be the go-to person for scientists, inventors business owners and policy makers who want to make a contribution toward turning our economy green. He is in a position to extract from all the candidates for federal office a pledge to lead us toward keeping the planet a safe place to live. For example, 1.5 billion people now are dependant on runoff from glaciersfor their water supply. How will they survive if the glaciers disappear? Tom Dawes

Al Gore
Al Gore is not telling you the truth about Global Warming. It is a hoax. The earth's tempature has risen only 1 degree in 100 years. 2007/2008 is the first year starting our cooling cycle since 2001. Global warming is created by AL Gore to put more government in your life ie:telling you what car to drive, what light bulb to use, and that is just the beginning. What creates the Global Warming that is going on on Saturn this year?
Al Gore claims to be the ecology guru of our times while he is drilling uranium on his own land in Tennessee and dumping the polution from that process into the Caney River.
Please do not take my word for it, but research it for yourself, Global Warming is a Scam. Al Gore is an idiot.
Reality, it sounds as if you are taking the...
twisted and obfuscated words of Imhofe to heart. He is not a scientist, neither is Gore, neither obviously are either you or I.
The mining being done on the Gore property is for ZINK, not Uranium.
Heating/cooling cycles are much longer than just a few years.
You need to do some research of your own and not take the words of others. You are correct when you state that Gore doesn't know. His degree in Divinity does not qualify him. He does have access to experts in the field however.
Gore made a tremendous mistake during his vice-presidency by helping to approve the building of 30 more coal-burning electrical generating plants. At this time, with all the cards on the table, nuclear is the only way to go.

The greatest derangement of the mind is to believe in something because one wishes it to be so.
The scientific consensus is that...
...Global Warming is a problem.
EVERY citizen (including Al Gore), can either inform their own views with those of the majority of scientists, or simply wing it on their own.
YOU have chosen the later.
Why?
Where else should citizens reject Scientific Consensus and simply wing it on their own?

Regardless of Global Warming:
Where is the horror in breaking monopolies so as to provide for higher incomes for the working majority? At that point they could then afford the up front cost of bulbs which SAVE hard earned cash in the long run.
Where is the horror in developing cars with descent fuel economy?
Where is the horror in weaning ourselves off foreign oil?
Where is the horror in not giving Conservatives a reason for casual warfare? Namely OIL.
Let's see here: Al Gore, and
Let's see here: Al Gore, and hundreds of acclaimed and dedicated scientists around the world are "idiots," because they do not agree with you? Does that about sum it up?
I suppose that you also believe that anyone who doesn't believe your misinformed views about an observable (and measureable) phenomenon is an "idiot."
Fact: The use of petroleum products for energy has a finite lifespan.
Fact: Releasing manmade "exotic" compounds into our atmosphere has no historical parallel in our Planet's evolution, or its past long-term climate cycles.
Those two facts alone are irrefutable, and are reason enough to explore alternative sources of energy, and to improve our husbandry of the Planet we call home.
Third-Party cultists are cute when they attempt to explain things they are told to believe, without benefit of either reason, or fact.
Re: Al Gore
While I admire your courage to speak so openly, I must ask you, which scientific reviews and literature you researched to form your opinions? We can all have our opinions but when they aren't factually based, or formed from the conclusions drawn by imperically-based literature then we run the risk of being manipulated by someone who wants to pray upon our emotions, our fears over change, being number one.
What does Al Gore have to gain by using his personal resources to support this cause? Maybe he feels remorse over authorizing coal burning plants to be built. Perhaps he realized how many of his corporate and "otherwise" wealthy comrades were doing things like flying in private or corporate jets (using thousands upon thousands of gallons of fuel to fly empty planes or planes carrying one or two people to their destinations, which capasity-wise, could seat 20 if flown commercially). While I can't speculate what his motives are, he has consulted with experts in this field, and what all these experts are saying (from all over the world) is that we are headed for a major crisis if we don't change what we are doing.
The fact is human beings, as a singular species, have had the most devastating impact on our planet's natural resources, both presently, and historically speaking. We have to start holding ourselves accountable for this. We have to start doing our individual parts to minimize the impact we have on our planet, so that we have something beautiful to pass along to future generations. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by minimizing our impact on the planet. All it means is that we open the scope of our vision to think ahead. We need to be less selfish and more considerate of others (human and non-human, alike). I want my grandchildren's grandchildren to have beautiful forests to visit and clean air to breathe. I want them to drink water and not worry if it will cause cancer!
Fossil fuels are dirty and horrible for our environment. Forget the global warming issue for a second and look at what happens to an area where there has been an oil spill! The wild life from those areas suffer tremendously, if these creatures aren't wiped out completely. We can't continue along this path. Those who want you to stay dependant upon oil, are the ones who bennefit financially from it. What does a scientist have to gain by speaking up about this? Nothing. Many of them have sustained losses or threats because of their willingness to stand firm in their findings and not be bought into silence by oil companies. Do you like paying what we are paying for gas? I don't. Have you ever lived in a place where there was efficient mass transit, like the subways of New York or the railway systems of Europe? You don't have to own a car in those places. It is wonderful! We need to start thinking of others and if we are going to be using a vehicle, it needs to make a minimal impact on the environment. Take a class at a university on Environmental Science. It will open your eyes to things you never considered.
When you finally have the courage to speak the truth, do not utter it in whispers. Instead, sing it boldly, with all the passion you hold in your heart.(C) Rebecca Fontana, MN, USA
