Al Gore Should Endorse Obama For President

I feel strongly than ever that Al Gore should endorsed Barack Obama for President 2008.

Obama?

Have you looked up his voting record instead of listening to just his speeches?

Obama won't end the war or give us back our rights. Why should we encourage Gore to back him?

Obama For President

I am a War Veteran, Desert Shield/ Desert Storm.  I feel Obama is right on course with the war situation based on my perspective as a WAR VETERAN.

Al Gore should endorse Dennis Kucinich

I found this comment on a post at Afterdowningstreet.

"I hope when these Gore "supporters" finally get the message that he doesn't want the job, they will go to Kucinich as his logical "replacement".
I also hope that Gore will endorse Kucinich, he should after all.  Who else running shares Gore's vision for the planet, Dennis wants to create jobs by building green infrastructures."

And I thought Wow what a great idea, how do we ask Mr Gore?

Hillary is republican lite, Obama's voting record is as bad as Hillary's, Edwards is good but, Kucinich is the only candidate who has been true to his word, didn't vote for the invasion or occupation, the funding, the patriot act 1 or 2, the military commissions act, etc. You say he can't win, no one knows who he is? Why is that? Who has decided for us that Hillary is the leading candidate? WHY IS THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA SO AFRAID OF HIM THAT THEY WONT EVEN MENTION HIS NAME??? and try to keep him out of the debates.

Gore for Obama

I completely disagree!  Al Gore and John Kerry should endorse Senator Barack Obama for President.  This is the logical choice without an option!

I agree that Gore should endorse Obama

His environmental policy has been lauded by many as being the most bold and far-reaching of all the candidates. Dave Roberts at Grist.org said, "Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised -- even shocked -- at its quality. It's a deft mix of good politics and strong, substantive policy... With his promise to auction 100% of cap-and-trade credits, Obama has put himself out ahead of all the other frontrunners. He deserves the praise he'll get for it." The League of Conservation Voters voted him highest of all the candidates.  And here is more praise:

http://www.barackobama.com/2007/10/08/experts_praise_barack_obamas_e.php

On the war, he spoke vehemently against it when it was politically risky to do so, in the middle of a campaign when those speaking out were labeled akin to traitors. His plan, had it passed, would have begun withdrawal this past May, with all troops out by May of '08.  That plan was vetoed by bush.  He has said, over and over and over again, that he would begin withdrawal immediately as president.  What he would not do is promise that every single troop would be out by 2013.  He says..and here he is more truthful than Kucinich..that there will be a need to have our embassy guarded. It is not something he would use merceneries like Blackwater to do.  We would need a very limited presence close by, perhaps in Kuwait, to go after any al-Queda attempt to terrorize after we pull out. He would start removing our combat troops immediately, at a rate of a few batallions a month...which every truth-telling military person will tell you is the only way to do it while protecting our troops, and immediately begin a 'surge' of diplomatic leadership to get all the different factions together for a political solution, and get the neighboring countries involved, as a stable Iraq is a benefit to all of them... including Iran and Syria.

I don't know if Al Gore will actually endorse anyone before the nominee is actually chosen, but if he does, I think Obama should be the candidate, for these, and many more reasons.  If you've read Gore's 'Assault on Reason' and Obama's 'Audacity of Hope', you'll see that they have a lot in common, including a profound understanding of the world we live in, and how to set it right. Ethel Kennedy has said publicly that she sees a lot of Bobby Kennedy in Obama.  So do I. So do many who have lived as long as we have.

Gore for Obama

I am glad that someone else is thinking of not being selfish, but for the well-being of this country for most suitable candidate for President in 2008

That's Right

I voted for Gore to change the gas guzzling crowd that was Bush Incorporated.  Bush and his crony phony administration and party, stole the election.  It's been proven.

He is more in sinc with Kennedy, Martin, and even Lincoln who saw the division of the country as a major screw up in security.

United we stand and devided we fall.

It will take a wise and diplomatic leader to move us out of the Bush It we've been silently drafted in through a rubberstamp RepubliKlan House majority.

Al Gore doesn't want the corruption of the Clintons back in the People's House

Obama's Presidential movement to take back our country, is a People's movement.

It is the only way that we the people can get our government contracts from these Oil hungry sabe rattling idiots.

Gore For Obama

I am glad to see someone is thinking on the same terms as I for good reasons.

Has it occured to anyone who

Has it occured to anyone who has posted on this node, that Al Gore is under no obligation to endorse any candidate? I believe that he has more intergrity than to be politically pressured into lending his support to anyone -- especially Obama or Kucinich.

Gore was awarded a non-partisan, world-wide honor for his work on global warming, and he owes nothing to those who would take political advantage of his hard work and dedication to a noble cause.

This node reminds me of the parasites who come out of the woodwork after a "friend" wins the lottery.

OBAMA '08

Gore endorsed Howard Dean in 2004.  I suspect he will again throw his influence behind a candidate.  It was reported Sunday that some Gore advisors have indicated he will endorse Obama soon.  But if President Gore chooses to stay above the fray I respect that choice and would like to take this opportunity to state that Gore winning the Nobel Peace Prize is yet another example and insight into the collective soul of people that are drawn to the Democratic Party. Gore, like Clinton, and like Carter before him, dropped out of the political arena and then focused his life on bettering the world in other venues.

Gore, once the punching bag of the foam at the mouth, radical right wing loonies, has been vindicated on EVERY SINGLE ISSUE! The neo-cons "F"-ups have been thrown into history's trashbin of failed political experiments. Mean while George W. Bush, relegated by public judgement to the status of irrelevant, is steadily cementing his place in history as the worst president in United States history.

Congratulations President Gore!

-Gore won by 539,897 votes- let us never forget!

silent for a reason

Gore is a man of great purpose, so it follows that he has a good reason for remaining mum about declaring, not declaring, or endorsing. One thing his silence accomplishes is keeping  steady attention on him and his great cause of global warming. Every time his name comes up in the context of being a presidential candidate, the issue of global warming accompanies the discussion. I think he will wait as long as he possibly can, and maybe longer, before saying anything definite, and why should he ? As soon as he announces his plans, the dynamics will change, especially if he shuts the door on being a candidate. Global warming will then have to depend on its own momentum, and won't be helped along by presidential politics. One thing that has surprised me, is why no major democratic candidate has really gone after the global warming support, thereby giving Gore a good reason to endorse them. Edwards might have missed the boat on that one.

Did you

See Edwards plans for a bold New Energy Economy? It is here:

http://www.johnedwards.com/news/press-releases/20070320-energy-plan/

I don't think he missed the boat, people just didn't see him get ON the boat. Edwards Energy Plan is by far the most Progressive, and drove the debate.

If Gore endorses any candidate it should be Edwards. Edwards has the most Progressive policy proposals for both domestic and foreign agendas.

He was the first with a truly universal healthcare plan. He was the first with a Progressive Energy policy, he was the first to denounce "free trade" policies, and fight against them. He has fought with unions for raising minimum wage and adrressing their concerns. His Rural Recovery Agenda could bring the Reagan Democrats back home to stay. His recent plan on putting the power of Washington back into the hands of the people is brilliant.

Edwards has been leading the way with Progressive vision in this primary despite the past. We all talk about our party not having a backbone and not standing up for what we believe and John Edwards has been doing that this whole primary. Maybe its time we put our money where our mouth is or quit crying about our party "having no backbone".

Yes, Gore for Edwards

Would be my hope also. I've been hoping for that for several months. As for Edwards' energy plan, it is good, but he hasn't stressed it like he has poverty, and that's what it would take to sway Gore. I think Al Gore truly believes that planet Earth has had it if humanity doesn't act now, or else nothing will matter, not who is ,or isn't, president, not Iraq, not poverty, not anything. He has convinced me of his absolute conviction about it. That's why I'm surprised that others, Edwards included , haven't taken the baton of global warming out of Gore's hand, because it appears that Gore has been waiting to see if anybody would grab it. Edward's energy plan is his own good plan, but it doesn't have Al Gore's red alert written all over it, and I think it should, wish it did, and am surprised it doesn't.

Obama For President

Edwards is a good candidate.  However, Obama is the overall best candidate.

All the people are not on board with Edwards

Obama has amassed mucho donors and supporters.  Could it be he has the common sense to stop the madness.

Just listen and recognise, he is the ONE.

Like Neo on the Matrix, he is the ONE!!

the one

There sure are a lot of " the one " lately. Never seen so many. I can't tell if it's the one-in-the-many, or the many-in-the-one. How about EdgorobamamammaKlintocinich ?

LOL Steve! Nicely summed

LOL Steve! Nicely summed up...;-)

Thanks Bill, it was

summed up out of frustration as much as from perspective. The Democratic party is like a big puzzle with pieces that don't want to fit together. Each piece seems passionately opposed to making a big picture. It amazes me to watch the factions refuse each other so fervently. I must caution myself against catching a favorite fever. I just hope that we take Samual Johnson's observation seriously: " It concentrates a man's mind wonderfully to know he shall be hanged in a fortnight." The prospect of another Republican administration should force our fragmented party together pretty soon, I hope I hope I hope.

Premature

Why would anyone in a position such as Al Gore endorse anyone at this early stage of the campaign? Sorry, but this whole subject makes very little political sense. I see a lot of posts about what they think Al Gore should do but nothing that explains why he has to do it. Even Bill Clinton did not endorse Al Gore at this stage back in 1999 and Al was the heir apparent.

Now that Obama has gone the revival circuit...

prEying for votes, he just lost me and many others like me.

We already have sufficient religion in our Government to become the theocratic fascist dictatorship we are.

The sound of that old time religion sounds remarkably like gunshots to the foot.

A mind once expanded can never return to its original dimensions.

Anne Hathaway: 1556-1623

The greatest derangement of the mind is to believe in something because one wishes it to be so.

Ever since

the Puritans crashed their heads on Plymouth Rock, this country has been riven and driven by religious dogma. 'Separtation of church and state' is a wonderful American idea, but has it ever really been practiced here? I think there's a fundamental difference between religion and spirituality. At the start of Obama's campaign, I felt he was a naturally spiritual guy, sane , humane, and down to earth; he didn't need to cultivate the Christian soil. But off he goes for the puritan vote. There is always this talk about faith and pressure to 'believe' ,but people change their beliefs like jackets, according to the weather. Belief isn't conviction. He already has plenty of conviction, why screw it up with belief? To me, that shows a weakness of character more than any so-called 'lack of experience,' that the media accuses him of.

Al Gore should RUN for

Al Gore should RUN for President.

You Have It Backwards

Obama should be endorsing Gore For President and so should the rest of them!

Al Gore, the only logical choice....
