Chickenhawks, Chickenshits, Cowardly Candidates and a Craven Congress, Aint That America?
The progress being made in our 4 1/2 year war of terror on Iraq is phenomenal. So impressive are our recent gains that the "top tier" Democratic candidates who have lined up in competition to become the heirs of this great struggle for freedom, for Middle Eastern democracy, for oil and gas rights for western corporations and of course for lucrative contracts in arms sales and private security for campaign contributors, last night went way out on a limb and declared their goal of removing our troops from the quagmire in Mesopotamia by the end of their first term in office in 2013.
Despite their boldness, they did not report whether or not they could guarantee the colonization of Mars, a cure for cancer, or flying pigs within that time frame.
The Congress of the United States of America, a legislative body established by the American Constitution over two centuries ago has declared itself to be toothless, spineless and ultimately meaningless. Yesterday they condemned a reputable political organization for running a completely truthful newspaper ad and voted to declare the military of a sovereign nation a terrorist organization in order to present their Fuhrer with a gift wrapped excuse for his next adventure.
They were asked by Bush's Defense Secretary for an additional 190 billion ($190,000,000,000) dollars to continue their criminal enterprises in Iraq and Afghanistan and despite the fact that a sizable majority of the people of our country want to end this war, the cowardly swine will approve it. That will bring the total publicly reported expenditures to 800 billion dollars ($800,000,000,000). Most of this has been spent, squandered, swindled, bamboozled away since our chief arrogant little asswipe stood on the deck of an aircraft carrier and declared that the mission had been accomplished.
Hell, they sacked one of our principle Generals at the outset of this insanity for declaring that the war would cost as much as 25 billion when Rumsfeld and Cheney's various staff were reporting that it could be done for seven billion which would be financed through the sale of, get this,Iraqi Oil.
Congress will of course, make another face saving gesture and ask for full progress reports, which will be dutifully drawn up by the neocon advertising/marketing/propaganda staff in the white House and fed to an "ass kissing little chicken shit"general for presentation to our parliament of gutless wonders and we will continue, down the same path following some vague vanishing point into a future where the only things that are certain are the deaths of thousands more of our troops and tens of thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians.
Since our current crop of wars of empire are progressing so swimmingly (as planned at the highest levels) they now are preparing to embroil us in another war with Iran and this time they plan to pull out all the stops and use the nukes that they have been slathering over all these long years.
Last week on television, I witnessed a room full of mostly young college students sit pacifically and watch passively as a half dozen hired goons brutalized another student with Tasers, for speaking. For Speaking. I felt that I was seeing a vision of America's future.
No matter what this criminal government and their corporate masters do, no matter what the excess, no matter what the crime, no matter what horrors they commit in our name the people of this country are sitting, sitting as acquiescently as that room full of meek children, sitting and cowering in the face of authority.
America in the first decade of the twenty first century is beginning to look a lot like Germany in the third decade of the last century and I'm beginning to be relieved that this is my last decade.

Bob, your point is so well taken. Your words so very true. Our country has fallen to a low I never dreamed we would reach. The vast majority of American's haven't a clue that their future is sealed to be enslaved by the corporations. Not just by ReThugs and the unteathered capitalist corporations but our very own Democratic Party is participating in what I truly believe to be criminal acts. Treason comes to mind.
Dem's voting to condemn MoveOn, what happened to the First Ammendment? You fools have allowed ReThugs to corner you and forced you to their side against America. Over 3 million people side with MoveOn what don't you get about that? From here on Freedom of Speach is no longer a reality in America. You get Teazered!
Dem's voting to give the Liar -N- Chief the authority to go to war against IRAN! This is INSANITY! What didn't you learn from being bam-boozeled the first time. Or are you suffering with reduced brain compacity, sometimes called Head Up A$$ Syndrome? Step outside your box Dem's, from out here we can see the same pattern merging as we did with Bush's march to war on Iraq. What day will he stand before America on TV in a Special News Conference with the news that we have BOMBED Iran? Watch while he fights back the smirk. Doesn't that piss you off, that evil SMIRK, the one that lets the rest of us know his intentions are far from honest, we knew it we said it out loud - HE'S LYING - as we watched the run up to the invasin of Iraq. Bush and Cheney are already pumping the airwaves full of propaganda as they did before the invasion of Iraq. We will have you, our elected Democratic representatives to blame for the destruction, death and the start of what probably will be WWIII.
We are being betrayed not only by the L-N-C, our Generals (Colin Powell started with the first whopping lie) and our own party. How can this be happening. My husband has been telling me this for over a year, I have been in denial. I also felt they needed some time to right the vast wrongs of this regime. We sent a clear message in Nov. 2006 and now we are nearing Nov. 2007 and the conditions have changed only slightly, and if you can call a tragically small minimum wage progress I will give you that, but it too little to late. Hundreds more dead soldiers and thousand of dead innocent Iraqis this year. Billions of dollars missing and who knows where they have gone, and furthermore who is even looking into it? We are not hearing much of anything from our nightly news sources but we sure have focused on what a bad girl Brittany is. A proped up housing market to keep the the attention focused on our great economy. Well I can tell you first hand the I've known for over 18 months that the housing market was in dire staits. My neighbors house has been on the market now for 2 years. His house on 5 acres should have sold in no more than 6 months.
Last night I listened to the ReThug Candidates Debate related to racial issues. Was interesting to see how the 4 front runners have snubbed the black community. There were some very poinent things said throughout the debate. I was taken back by Mr. Tom Tancredo's remarks about keeping the death penelty as a tool for punishment of Treason. Do you hear that Democratic Representatives, death for Treason? You swore an oath to uphold the Constitution, when are you going to do your job. Bush, Cheney and Rice and the others all need to be tried for TREASON! If you don't see it then maybe you should be also.
Young people need to get involved also
I'm reading Naomi Wolf's new book "The End of America". It has a simple, to the point, format about the ten steps to dictatorship and is very easy reading. It should be required reading for every young person in America. Young people take our country for granted. Things may be quite different in the future if young people don't get more involved now. I've know for years about all the things she talks about in the book. The thing is, she puts it all in a clear format that can be read easily. Since reading this book, there is not a day goes by when I watch the news I definitely see what she is talking about. It all happens soooo slowly ...
You may find yourself thinking we are in a calm period right now, relatively speaking. But don't let yourself be fooled. The future of the next generation is at stake, not to mention our own generation.
Call me paranoid
but I'm afraid I see a gulag in my future if something isn't done to stop our march into facsism.
