A bit harsh?

I just saw a video on CNN.com of a student at FSU asking John Kerry a question. The kid was clearly a republican and against Kerry, however as being in a country that promotes free speech, he should be able to ask his question whether or not it be challenging.

The video shows the sutdent trying to ask a question when suddenly Kerry has the police walk over to the kid and drag him away, tazer him and throw him on the ground. I think this is a bit barbaric in terms of handling a small situation. Here's the link http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/ireports/2007/09/18/irpt.tasered.kerry.event.cnn

You are mistaken

You are mistaken. Kerry did not have the police do anything. Actually Kerry told the police not to remove him and that he would answer the young man's questions. Kerry did not know about the tazing until someone told him later. He was not pleased to hear that it had happened.

I have seen the tape over and over, all of it. NO I do not think that the police were within their rights to taze him. The officers involved have been put on suspension without pay while the school and the police department investigate the incident.

Listen to what Kerry is saying http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bVa6jn4rpE on this tape!

I can't believe the way that CNN cut and pasted that tape. I can see why you had the impression that Kerry ordered that arrest and tazering. Please watch the unedited tape before you make up your mind.

I was amazed on one part of that CNN tape

It looked as though a woman officer was smiling. It's about 2/3 of the way through the tape, and is brief, but it was there.

There is a lot more to this story(duh)than we have yet...

heard. Bits and pieces are finally surfacing on the MSN. The student involved is known as some sort of cut up.

Kerry acted appropriately. He is being censured despite this.

The police officers are on UNPAID leave while the investigation continues.

Gotta wait on this one. I wish the news folks would just for once, get the story right and all the pieces together, before racing each other to the available airwaves.

Tasing for a microphone hog is a bit harsh

But if he had called me 'bro', I'd have tased him myself.

This student entered the hall during the Q&A period...

causing some commotion. He butted into the line of students waiting to ask questions. He asked questions in a disorganized manner. He asked the girl whose place in line he took to tape what was going to happen. Lots more at:

This student's " purpose in life",

from the DU link, above.

Now, you have to know this about me: I am huge Marlins fan, and a born heckler. My purpose in life is to badger, jeer, and cajole professional athletes.

Should he have been tasered?- absolutely not!

Is he an ass?- Absolutely!

I couldn't agree with you

I couldn't agree with you more Kwahlf.

I couldn't agree with anyone about him being an ass...

Actually as a citizen we should all be outraged and angry about what is going on with our  democracy and Congresses refusal to impeach and end this illegal war.

They are lucky people are so "polite" to them period.  If they refuse to answer questions....people will be in the streets with guns, etc. Chaos will result.

Kerry has let us down and doesn't deserve to be treated like he's a god or something. He's a citizen not a royal to be protected from embarrassing questions.

Police and security guards are being told to do this "abuse of power" to cause fear and silence us. Their bosses should be investigated since this has gone way too far. What does the world think of our "democracy"?

Bush talks and acts like an ass all the time yet he isn't pushed to the ground resulting in his ankle broken (happened to a clergy trying to get into a hearing).   Whose the ass here America?
