Focus, people, Focus!Right after the 2004 election, I posted the following on this site: http://www.democrats.com/node/163 Now, I'll admit, only about half what I posted came to pass, but we did get off our butts, raise a lot of money, and retook congress. Now, with less than a year to the primaries, I am not happy. One look at the blogs and forums on this site show that we are poorly focused, and badly wasting time and energy. Let's lok at the past year: The WSJ became an official part of Fox News, Evangelicals are re-energized over a recent vistory against partial birth abortion, Air America is a shadow of what it was in 2004, while Neal Boorts, Michael Savage, Hannity, Rush, and Bill -- not to mention Moody Broadcasting -- use the airwaves to promote the Republican agenda everyday. Meanwhile, the new Congress can't end the war. Hell, we can't even get rid of Al Gonzalez. ...and what are we doing? We're collecting petition signatures for an impeachment fight that won't stand a chance in the Senate. We're doing analysis that shows that John Kerry really won the 2004 election. What we're not doing is focusing on what we need to do to win. Back to basics, boys and girls. It's the 2008 version of "No Democrat Left Behind" Here is this years Hall of Shame:
Look well at that list. It's a lot of Republicans.. it's a lot of seats for us to win, but these are, in many cases, the Reddest of the Red States. Meanwhile we have to defend seats in Louisiana, Montana, Arkansas, and South Dakota. If you are looking forward to glorious, easy victory in 2008, you need to put the pipe down, sleep off your high, and get up tomorrow ready to go to work. Here are my suggestions for 2008: 1. The 50 state strategy works! The fact that W had to visit Nebraska to defend Nebraska 3 shows that any seat is vulnerable. The mor red seats we challenge, the more money they have to raise to defend them. Remember "Media Corps?" Let's get back to the low dollar donation, low cost, grass roots strategies that almost got John Kerry elected and carried the day in November 2006. 2. Take nothing for granted! We have no safe seats. We have no easy road to the White House. We need to focus on getting every vote. However hard you worked in the past two elections to register people and get them to the polls, work that hard and harder this time. The Republicans were humbled for about 5 minutes; now they're back to labeling us as unpatriotic defeatists. 3. We need to get clear on one talking point: When Republicans talk about a Democratic Plan for failure in Iraq, we need to -- without missing a beat-- reply about George W. Bush's Failure in Iraq. You know, if you build a house, and you build that foundation wrong, that house will not stand. George W. Bush built a foundation for war on lies, wishful thinking, and shoddy intelligence. Wishing for victory in Iraq is like wishing that house would stand.. it's a nice wish, but wishing won't fix the house or win the war. No Democrat, from this day on, should fail to mention at every reaonable possibility that the failure in Iraq is George W. Bush's fault. Republicans who support continuing on to an imaginary, undefined "victory" are not facing facts. We can't afford to lose more of our best and bravest because many of the the President's supporters can't get the heads out of the sand. 4. Don't allow us to get Swift-Boated again, ever! Here are some Repubnlican talking points for which we need a quick, coherent, hard hitting responses. "Have you forgotten 9-11?" "We don't want European health care, we want American health care." "Senator Obama's recent comments on Pakistan show he has no understanding of the war on terror" "Why do you people care so much if a Koran is flushed doen a toilet at Guantanamo, but you won't bat an eyebrow if a Holy Bible is desecrated or a flag is burned?" I could go on, but you get the picture. We are still not patriotic or godly enough, and every voter will have that message drilled into them until we stop it and stop it cold. 5. Republicans = incompetence, corruption, and hypocrisy. Don't let anyone in your district or state forget that a Republican Congress and George W. Bush are responsible for the incompetent handling of Iraq, the incompetent bungling of Katrina, the incompetent handling of veterans at Walter Reed, the incompetent failure to deal with Bin Laden, the hiring of incompetent leaders like Mike Brown, Don Rumsfeld, Porter Goss, and Paul Wolfowitz. Don't let them forget the corruption of Duke Cunningham, Tom DeLay, Jack Abramoff, Bernard Kerik, and all of those fun loving Bush supporters at Enron. Don't forget the hypocrisy of those who aacted as stalwart members of a party that stood behind family values to cover their own transgressions, like Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Rudy Giuliani, Mark Foley, David Vitter, and McCain Florida campaign chair Bob Allen. Remind voters at every opportunity that, in 1994, Republicans made a contract with America to be honest and responsive. They've broken that trust. 6. Start attacking Hillary! You heard me. Google to your heart's content. Get out all that old stuff on Vince Foster and WhiteWater and the missing Rose Law Firm Files, and whatever else you know or think the Republicans will throw at us. You know the Republicans will throw all that stuff in her face; let's give her a chance to hone her answers now. 7. Nothing has changed since 2006; we still do not have the luxury of Republican friends. Michael Bloomberg could be our friend; he quit being a Republican. Joe Liberman could be our friend, but he is trying every ounce of patience I have. However, Susan Collins and Chuck Hagel, although well meaning at times, cannot be our friends. They can become independents, and caucus with us, or we will make every effort possible to crush their candidacies and take their seats. It's that simple. 8. In 2002, we were led by the well meaning, but incompetent, Terry McCauliffe. As a result, we didn't win some seats we really should have won. To that end, Mr. Coleman, Mr. Sununu, and whomever runs for Mr. Allard's seat need to enjoy every grassroots effort we can throw at them. These are seats we can and should win. However, I have a special place in my heart to get rid of one candidate in particular, a candidate who smeared and degraded a decorated war hero for his own personal glorification. I speak, of course, of Mr. Saxby Chambliss. Should you have even a $5 bill and a stamp to spare, send it to whomever is running against this slime, and get him the Hell out of our government. 9. Forget impeachment. It won't happen. Re-direct your efforts to something useful. I have a few immediate suggestions. 1) I walk into a lot of businesses (Sam's Club leaps to mind) that make me watch Fox News while shopping. Start petitining these companies, and tell them you'll do business elsewhere if they don't cease making you watch partisan propaganda. 2) Suggest to your Republican friends that they ought to start a campaign to recall that traitor, Arlen Specter. Let them know you'll help! (turnabout is fair play; remember Grey Davis?) 3) Petition Fox News advertisers; let them know you don't appreciate their support of propaganda. Don't stop with Fox -- let Savage & Boortz's advertisers know how you feel as well. 4) If you know your local Republican Congessman or Senator frequents a favored adult night club, get some video and put it on You-Tube, and last, but not least 5) Re-focus from impeachment to war crimes. Start reminding Republicans that they love accountability, and so we're going to hold Republican leaders accountable for ordering torture and inhumane treatment. 10. Never forget we are at war. We don't like the war in Iraq, but we still owe Iraq troops and veterans our love, support, our respect, but mostly we owe them the best equipment, great pay & benefits, veterans benefits and the best medical treatment known to humanity. We need to remember that the war in Afganistan is a whole different subject than the war in Iraq, and that we better damn well have a plan for victory there. We need to remember that if the government in Pakistan falls, a nuclear-armed, Islamic fundamentalist foe will likely emerge, and we need to convey how we will deal with that. We need a clear eyed vision of the future that balances military and diplomatic strategies to acheive our goals in the Middle East. and 11.. We need to present a vision of financial and energy independence. We need to return to the Clinton fiscal policies, but take the word "surplus" out of our vocabularies and replace it with "debt repayment." We need to treat the national debt like a 30 year mortgage and pay it off. We ned to start facing the fact that, if people live to 90 and 100, we can't start paying Social Security at 65. We need to balance some sane oil exploration, a lot of wind and alternative fuel, and some nuclear power to get us off the oil additcion and on to a better place in terms of foreign and domestic policy. To close, I'll repeat what I said in '04. Don't whine, and stop talking uselessly about impeachment. Instead, take the time you would have spent whining and invest it in your own state house/senate/assembly races. Which Republicans might be vulnerable? Who's old? Who's in an area that's changed a lot in the last few years? Then start by creating buzz. Write to papers like you did for Media-Corps. Start talking up your state Democrats, and start taking down your state Republicans. Take time to remind people it's the right wing media now, and it's not just Fox News and Rush Limbaugh! Moody Broadcasting, uunder the guise of religon, broadcasts endless attacks and slanted news 24 /7 on many FM stations in every market in this country. Remember that every righty has a weakness. Bill Bennett will be happy to lecture you about virtue as soon as he pushes himself away from the gaming tables. Rudy Giuliani would be happy to tell you about courage and morals and committing adultery in Gracie Mansion. Rush will lecture you on the error of your liberal ways as soon as he gets the maid to bring over the Oxycontin. O'Reilly will call you a Liberal Pinhead as soon as he can get off the phone about the loofah. Expose the hypocrisy in your right wing politician and shout it from the rooftops. Paul Wellstone said the future belongs to those who are passionate and work hard! Follow Paul's advice, and we will reclaim America! |

Eddie, you forgot some names on your hall of shame...
You forgot to add:
BEN NELSON of Nebraska
Bill Nelson of Florida
Mary Landrieu of Louisiana
Steny Hoyer of Ohio
C'mon guy...Ben is from your state. You have failed to get rid of this infamous Bush enabler. Thats where you start Eddie...get rid of your dead wood in YOUR state. Don't worry about OUR focus.

Sorry, Grinch, not buying...
<<C'mon guy...Ben is from your state. You have failed to get rid of this infamous Bush enabler. Thats where you start Eddie...get rid of your dead wood in YOUR state. Don't worry about OUR focus. >>
I will absolutely worry about OUR focus. Are there imperfect Democrats? Yes. They still caucus with us; they still allow Harry Reid, and not Trent Lott or Mitch McConnell to call the shots in the Senate. Will I focus on getting Mike Fahey or Scott Kleeb into office over Chuck Hagel? You bet! But if called upon, I'll support Mary Landrieu, or Ben Nelson, or anyone who supports a Democratic majority in the Senate.
It's the people with (R) after their name we need to focus on defeating. Starting first with Rudy or Mitt or whatever hack they put out there.
I believe you might find that Steny Hoyer is from Maryland, but if you want to campaign against him in Ohio, you go right ahead. Also, he's not a Senator, so he wouldn't have belonged on that list anyway.
Eddie, You don't have to buy anything...
but it does the Democratic Party no good at all to have your Ben Nelson, or the rest I named in our party. They are bonified Republicans and support nearly everything Bush wants.
They are warm bodies...too bad they don't have any spines. They are worthless to us and helpful to people like Bush.
You can, if you wish, call them DLC democrats. But, they have lost any creditable reason for being where they are.
You take care of Nelson. Don't worry yourself about our focus or our efforts.
A mind once expanded can never return to its original dimensions.

I think I'd rather focus on Chuck Hagel and Gordon Smith
Thanks, Grinch, but I think I'll choose what to worry about. I think before WE worry about Ben Nelson, WE should focus on defeating your Gordon Smith, my Chuck Hagel, and Saxby Chambliss, who belongs to neither of us.
If you have (R) after your name, you are worthless to us. If you have (D) or (I) (currently) after the name, but are unorthodox in your beliefs, you still provide the benefit of supporting OUR Senate leadership, and have some worth at that level.
There is absolutely no
There is absolutely no difference between the Nelsons, Bidens, and Landrieus of the DLC, and those with an (R) after their names. They do NOT caucus with us, they do NOT vote with us -- they vote with the Republicans and Dubya time and time again. They are the reason that this current do-nothing Congress is well below Dubya in current public opinion polls.
Unless we real Democrats take our Party back from the neoconservative DINOs who pander to rednecks and bigots for votes (just like Rove and Dubya), and restore the Democratic Party to its Liberal roots, there will be no stopping the neoconservative, corporate takeover of our government.
Those Dixiecrats who pander to the "centrist" right-wing members of the DLC (including you) are not doing themselves, or the rest of us, any favors by spouting the same old Blue Dog partisan line: "anyone with a (D) after their name is a good Democrat."
Our country is in a Constitutional crisis, and it needs to be addressed immmediately. The "centrist" New Democrats of the DLC are NOT on our side, and never have been. They are neoconservative Republicans in deceptive clothing, and are the cause for the self-defeating split in our Party.
There's at least one difference
<<There is absolutely no difference between the Nelsons, Bidens, and Landrieus of the DLC, and those with an (R) after their names.>>
The absolute difference between Ben Nelson and the other names you mention is that Ben Nelson is not up for election this time out. Chuck Hagel is.
.. and you are free to name call me (Dixiecrat, redneck) as you wish. I suspect if we sat down over adult beverages, we'd find more unites us than divides us. Nevertheless, when looking at the "Heart & Soul" page of the site, I see that it states:
<<We believe the only way to restore freedom and justice is to:
I agree with almost all of that, but I know the battles have to be fought and won in logical order. Sweep all the Republicans out in 2008, not impeachment, should be the first order of business. I don't disagree there's a constitiutional crisis. I don't disagree that Bush and CHeney should be prosecuted. The primaries start in less than 6 months; if you're honest, then you know there is no way we will sway that many votes in the Senate. Fight the logical battle first; win the White House and give our new President a working majority in Congress. With that accomlished, goals 1 & 4 follow quickly. At that point, the new AG (who I hope will be Elliot Spitzer) can either prosecute Bush & Cheney, or we can rejoin the world community, accept jusisdiction under the World Court, and turn W, Dick, Dick Armitage, et. al. over to The Hague and let them be dealt with there.
I'm not about names or labels. I'm about winning. If people want to be ineffectual and play impeachment parlor games, might I suggest joining the Greens?
Eddie, you are correct that
Eddie, you are correct that we agree on many issues, but this is not a football game, and "winning" has many different definitions.
"Winning" in today's political climate is not about who can place more members of their team on one end of the field, but about who can place more patriotic Americans in that "level" part of the field that is important to the Constitution and the People. I believe that the Democratic Party, under the guidance of Dr. Dean and the DNC can do that, but the DNC needs our help in removing the obstacles in their way. The DLC is deathly afraid of, and stongly opposes, Dr. Dean and the DNC, and for good reason: we want to put a stop to their corporate-sponsored graft and corruption.
We, at Democrats.com, have been saying for years that we have two opponents: the neoconservative Republicans, and the neoconservative DLC Democrats who enable them. Retaking our government will neither be easy, nor quick. The neocons (on both sides of the aisle) have had well over a decade to lie, cheat, and steal their way into positions of power. Those "positions of power," including those in Congress (the DCCC and the DSCC) and in the Oval Office, are owned lock, stock, and barrel by the K Street lobbyists, and their corporate masters. In that respect, the DLC and its neocons are no different from their Republican counterparts, in that they both feed at the very same corporate tables.
Candidates like Hillary (the DLC poster girl), Kerry, Gore, Lieberman, Villsack, Warner, and others, are hand-picked by the DLC to receive corporate backing. That is what the DLC really excels at: taking corporate bribes in return for promises of quid pro quo votes by their "centrist" whores. They could care less about who Democrats and Middle American voters want for candidates, and that is why they have made a mockery of the Primary Election process. Super Tuesday, my ass! If you are not familiar with history and sponsors of the DLC, see this post about their parent organization, and their ideological mentor, Will Marshall: http://www.democrats.com/node/10456
So, I repeat, while it may take a few election cycles to clean out the deadwood in our Party, it is the most important thing we can do as Democrats right now. Simply replacing Republicans with Republican-Lite candidates, or running another DLC-backed candidate for the Oval office, will do nothing to change the sorry-assed results that we've seen for the past 20 years.
Replace Republicans? Of course, but we also need to clean up our own side of the street, or the rubbish will just continue to pile up again, and again. Meaningful change can not happen from the top down, but can only be initiated and forced, from the bottom up.
And btw, your "join the Greens" remark was uncalled for, insulting, and petty. Do you actually believe, like Dubya, that upholding the Constitution is a "childish parlor game?"
Actually, it's been 27 years of sorry-assed results
<<"Winning" in today's political climate is not about who can place more members of their team on one end of the field, but about who can place more patriotic Americans in that "level" part of the field that is important to the Constitution and the People. >>
When one fields a team, it will have weak members and strong members. It will have members that the rest of the team will want to replace at the earliest opportunity. Nevertheless, it's the team we have, warts and all. Am I thrilled about having to rely on Joe Liberman to keep Democrats heading committes and shaping the Senate agenda. No! Would I prefer to have Trent Lott calling the shots? Hell no. For better or for worse, we are in a de facto coalition government. In any coalition, some serious nose-holding takes place. You strike me as someone who is guided by principles; while I'm not unprincipled, I'm guided by practicalities. You and I agree this will take a few election cycles to straighten out; where we disagree is what the priorities should be. I think before we worry about purging Mary Landrieu, we ought to focus on more obvious targets like Chamblis, Allard, Hagel, Domenici, et. al.
<<I believe that the Democratic Party, under the guidance of Dr. Dean and the DNC can do that, but the DNC needs our help in removing the obstacles in their way. The DLC is deathly afraid of, and stongly opposes, Dr. Dean and the DNC, and for good reason: we want to put a stop to their corporate-sponsored graft and corruption. >>
We agree on this. I think the leadership of Dr. Dean has been exemplary, and that he deserves much of the credit for the strategies leading to congressional gains in 2006. I think Dean realizes a political truth that Ronald Reagan clearly demonstrated in 1980; you don't strengthen your party's ideology by taking it to the center; have the party take it's position away from the center, and take the center with you. However, while Reagan did ruthlessy purge non-elected party members (people like Mary Crisp leap to mind), he tolerated the so-called "Gypsy Moth" congressmen for years. Eventually, time and the electorate did the job of purging elected officials for him. I still say take care of the (R)s first, and take care of the others in due course.
<<Super Tuesday, my ass!>>
The irony of Stupid Tuesday is that it promotes exactly what it ostensibly is designed to prevent, which is candidates chosen by a select few in back room deals rather than by the people. The difference being that instead of those deals being made at the convention, in the full view of all, they are made by state party officials prior to the primaries. Once upon a time, when the process worked, candidates had several months to craft their message. The process also had built in vetting, because the bulk of the mud could be slung before the convention, and pit fall issues could be rooted out earlier in the process. Then, at the convention, opposing factions in the party could find common ground on candidates and a platform and go forward on that basis. Now, both parties hold primaries of dubious merit and the cornvention is reduced to a coronation.
<<And btw, your "join the Greens" remark was uncalled for, insulting, and petty. Do you actually believe, like Dubya, that upholding the Constitution is a "childish parlor game?">>
Calling me a Dixiecrat, and all that implies was insulting, but you didn't hear me whine about it. No, unlike W, I don't believe that upholding the Constitution is a childish parlor game. I believe that deluding one's self into believing that any current problem, constitutional or otherwise, will be remedied by impeachment is a childish parlor game.
The Best Case Scenario: the House holds hearings and passes articles; we have a trial in the Senate, and none of the articles carry, because we won't come close on any article to 67 votes. And even in the Fantasyland scenario in which we could get the votes, by the time the hearings were held, and the trial dragged out, we'd be well into 2008; the current miscreants would have been gone soon, anyway. A Republican majority that loathed Bill Clinton couldn't even muster a party-line majority on most counts, and many reasonably assert that Nixon could have come up with 34 supporters in the Senate.
To me, engaging in any activity that you know in advance will have no real impact is a parlor game. I say go to the next remedy allowed in the Constitution, which is to refocus time and talent on the 2008 election. Now is the time to promote and raise money for candidates who will end the war in Iraq, repeal eight years of corporate welfare and tax breaks for the wealthiest 1%, lay the foundation for a national health plan.
If you really feel that going after the DLC candidates is more meaningful than going after Republicans, so be it, but even going forth and making that case is a better use of time than promoting an impeachment that ain't gonna happen.
But Eddie, if we are
But Eddie, if we are to take you at your word, you are a Blue Dog Democrat, but that doesn't necessarily make you a bad person...;-). I didn't mean to imply that you are a racist or a bigot, but rather just a modern-day, DLC-apologist, "Dixiecrat." And my response wasn't a "whine," it was a reminder that we are all Democrats here (albeit mostly American Liberal Democrats), with the implied right to agree to disagree. Inviting a real Democrat (as opposed to a DLC DINO) to leave the Democratic Party because you disagree with them is insulting, and beneath your obvious intelligence. Accusing the extremely serious, intelligent, dedicated, politically-experienced, and passionate Democrats on this blog of "playing parlor games," falls into the same category.
I am not only "guided by principle," but also by traditional American Liberal principles. I am guided as well by a strong belief that the Constitution of the United States of America is more sacred and important than any political Party, any of the three Branches of government it created, any religion, or any ideological dogma that would undermine its foundations.
At one time (and I've been around long enough to remember it well) the Democratic Party was a protector of the Constitution, and we American Liberal Democrats would like to restore it to that position of guardianship -- sooner, rather than later. And no, you don't have to agree with us, but if you will read the overwhelming majority of the opinions on Democrats.com, you will find that your, otherwise well-intentioned, advice and approach to a lasting solution is in the distinct minority.
Absolutely off topic, here
Absolutely off topic, here is an article that reminds us about that best-in-class health care system the Republicans keep telling us about.
http://health.yahoo.com/news/178301
Blue Dog or apologist I may be; I stand against the (R)s. I stand against a party whose members want, "..government so small they can drown it in a bathtub." I stand against the writers and talk show hosts, who call those with the temerity to suggest that the government can, and should, take actions for the common good "traitors" (I believe both Newt Gingrich and Ann Coulter love this term), "libtards" (the favored epithet of neocon bloggers everywhere), "feminazis" (where would we be without Mr. Limbaugh?), and "mentally diseased" (we have Michael Savage to thank for that one). Mr. Harding, you and I are merely exchanging views, and nothing you say will bend me out of shape too badly. The (R)s, on the other hand, hate us. Oh sure, some are less strident, more reasonable, and more open minded than others. But even the reasonable Republicans in the House voted to allow Tom DeLay to lead them, and Newt Gingrich before DeLay.
My problem with the "you're-with-us-or-you're-just-as-bad-as-the-Republicans" view is that this is exactly what Ralph Nader said in '00. He convinced millions that both Gore and W were in the pockets of corporate special interests and there wasn't a dime's worth of difference between them. I can think of 3,683 reasons why Nader is wrong. Clearly, we'd have been better off with Gore.
The fact that some Democrats have voted, either initially or subsequently, to support or fund the war, disapoints me deeply. But what separates Ben Nelson, a Democrat that votes too often with the wrong side, from Chuck Hagel, a Republican who has consistently opposed the war in Iraq, is that Nelson supports having Harry Reid and Dick Durbin shape the agenda in the Senate instead of Mitch McConnell and Trent Lott. To me, we're better off shaping the agenda. If that view makes be a Blue Dog, so be it; I'm a Blue Dog and I'll wear the label proudly.
I don't think most of those who post here or who consider themselves progressive Democrats honestly believe that flawed Democrats (and believe me, I agree they have flaws) mentioned earlier in this thread, including Hillary, Kerry, Gore, Villsack, and Biden are just as bad, just as dangerous, and just as supportive of the President's agenda as Romney, Chambliss, Gingrich, and Lott. If one really believes that Hillary=Romney and Biden=Lott, then the intellectually honest thing to do is go join with Bernie Sanders, Ralph Nader, and the Greens.
I don't think you, me, or most I've read here fall into the "join the Greens" group. I think where you, me, and Mr. Grinch disagree is prioritization. I suggest that the time has arrived to refocus and redidedicate to core tasks, such registering Democrats, getting our core views in the media, recognizing and developing rapid response to right-wing talking points, and preparing for the momentous task of getting a Democrat into the White House. I further suggest that focusing on our own flawed party members should be subordinate to focusing on the defeat of Republicans.
I began off topic, and I'll end off topic. As you know, we Democrats are going to be sandbagged next month by a report that will state that the troop surge is succeeding. I predict that some will suggest that replacing Mr. Rumsfeld with the more sensible Mr. Gates, and a more realistic approach to the military issues is finally taking the war in the "right direction." The report will close, I suspect, by saying that now is not the time to talk about drawing down, and that if we merely stay the course, we can look forward to a draw down in late '08, early '09. Do you have any thoughts on how we should respond to this anticipated news?
The Play's the Thing
Has anybody been wtaching West Wing lately? They always bring up current issues and propose ways to resolve those issues.
One thing, though, that some of the recent episodes highlighted is how much a group can fall apart if its members bicker amongst themselves.
In a time when the Republicans are attacking us with false accustaions and "patriotism" speeches, WE HAVE TO BE UNIFIED!
We have to show the rest of the US- the part that supports the Dems but can't get its rear end off the ground- that we are strong and will lead if people follow.
It doesn't matter if some of us believe that some Dems are double agents or some Reps are red herrings. WE HAVE TO GET PAST THOSE DIFFERENCES OR ELSE WE WON'T WIN THE ELECTIONS AND WE'LL LOSE THE VOICE THAT APPEARS TO HAVE LARYNGITIS AT THE MOMENT.
I just finished reading Fahrenheit 451, and the situation that Ray Bradbury predicts closely resembles our own. We're heading toward an age of wall-to-wall TVs, no literature, no free thinking and a whole lot of brainwashing.
WE HAVE TO SEE THE WATERFALL BEFORE WE TIP OVER THE EDGE- WE HAVE TO GET THE SHIP BACK ON COURSE.
SO STOP THE PETTY SQUABBLES- LET'S GET CRACKING!
Thank you.
