Doing Nothing is Taking a Position on Immigration

“Doing Nothing is Taking a Position on Immigration”

By Jim Ramelis

Doing nothing about immigration and border security is taking a position on the issue. Those that don’t want tightened border security or any type of sane comprehensive immigration policy are in effect saying: “Yes. I want the borders wide open, the profits of agri-business, construction industries, and others that hire undocumented workers are more important than a good solid border that screens both for security and health concerns. Support for no reform says “It is a good thing when the wages of American workers are suppressed by workers coming across the borders and working for less than minimum wage.” Failure of immigration reform means the status quo is maintained and that is just fine with many special interests. It means when an undocumented worker is sickened by the poison that is sprayed on our crops he or she goes to a hospital Emergency Room, where you and I pay the bill, and is eligible for no workmen’s compensation or help of any kind. No politician is going to formally announce he is for any of these issues but they have to smoke screen the subject. No action on immigration is the smokescreen.

I am not saying I was for this last immigration bill. It stunk. I am for securing the borders and a sane solution that is fair, humane, and enforces the law is a good start. If they would have got the “guest worker” part of the last bill through, it too would have hurt the American worker while putting the “guest worker” in a virtual slave like status.

No matter where one comes down on this issue or the political spectrum, I think almost all of us can agree that even if they won’t come to any conclusion about what to do with the immigrants already here, then for God’s sake do something about the border. Using first aid terms, stop the bleeding, apply emergency life saving first aid, and we will take care of everything else later. But as the title of this article suggests there are those that don’t want to apply emergency first aid and don’t want to stop the bleeding. Business as usual is profits of the few come before the common good and the American Worker. Doing nothing about the border is taking a position about it.

A few hints for legal justuce, you may not agree

Since we have over 12 million Illegal immigrants here and also an over extended visa list, close the borders and tell them they have 12 months to report to the state capital building and sign up for legal immigration or else be deported where ever they are causgh no questions asked.

CLOSE THE BORDERS NOW!  we have enough work force for the next two years, until we get them all registered.  The rules will not change for guest worker programs until they are all signed up .

If they are here for just work, then there should be no problem.

Tell the police when pulling cars, to ask for legal ICE ID or immigration papers or ice temporary  approved drivers license from the state.

new bio id card of immigration workers that commute through the border, at the employers expense, (this ensures the accounting of bio cards and turnout data.  They  are returned back across the border or To Visa Border Houses on Mexican or American side or where they resided before illegal entry.

Once they are signed legally they can come on the American side after all bio id and papers are processed.

The employers for agriculture jobs can pick them up at the work centers, and return them at night.

On the other Mexican side Homes for the temporary workers through the Mexican Governmentr Ice and the American Border Patrol Police keep them in descent housing to commute from.

The quicker they register, the quicker they get to work as soon as possible temporarily until all the back logue is cleared from the overstays, and other illegal immigrants with children.

This process will take as long as they are uncooperative with the American authorities.

Build schools for English teahers to teach under the smae funding they send home to their government.  They have to be at least responsible enough to send english taught workers who can communicate while in transition.

If these are put into practice we can control the flow to the border and for every one that crosses illegally, tell them they take from the people who are applying by the cahrge of enforcement.

This will discourage the run for the border, and will keep the other immigrants signed leagally and waiting to turn the stallers of progress in to the border police if they know of illegal crossers.
