Comments by Joan Veon: Usually at the end of a G7 press briefing, the room is packed full. This one had more security than reporters. It was very unusual. Furthermore, they did not ask for press names and the person with the microphone did not get close enough to the reporter asking the question so everyone could hear. This is NOT how U.S. Treasury press briefing are and all of the key people were there to set it up. Snow appeared very unsettled and appeared to want to go through the motions and “get it done.” Where was the rest of the press? Good question. The Reform of the IMF is pretty major. Phrases of interest are highlighted.
In January, the Bank for International Settlements chief economist, William White wrote a white paper of his own calling for a return to the gold standard or global or regional currencies to help with global imbalances and for the IMF to have the power of surveillance over a country’s finances even if it means losing part of their national sovereignty.
This IMF/World Bank meeting was extremely historic because it, in essence, gave the IMF more power than ever before in its history. Part of the crescendo in this opera was the fact that everyone was calling for a greater supervisory role for the IMF. The white papers, the discussion, the agenda, the objective of the meeting was simply to use “global imbalances” to take more financial sovereignty that ever before. The chief economist of the IMF said this, “People tend to dismiss these [role of various actors today] as minor frictions, sand in the gears of the globalization juggernaut. History, however, suggests there is a short distance from economic patriotism to unbridled nationalism. This is why the multilateral discussions in meetings like this are so important. They help ensure we continue to benefit from globalization in an atmosphere of mutual responsibility and shared destiny.”

World Banking calling all the shots
Joan Veon goes to all the GOP's and from what this is stating, one of the BIG THINK tanks telling Bush/Chaney what to do is the World Bank who seem to be calling the shots dismissing our freedoms and some of our constitutional rights. Not to long ago I opened an account with Wells Fargo with a small 369.00 check from a company I was working for. When the account was opened, they lost 100.00 immediately and I caught that. Their policy was to automatically place 75.00 into the savings account. The computer was set up to transfer 75.00 from my deposit into saving, but it also was set up to automatically transfer out of my savings and place into my checking. I noticed this was occuring on a regular basis and it was paying the bank 10.00 for doing it. Then I went to the drive up window to cash a check. The teller lost 100.00 at the drive up window. I went in to recover the 100.00 and all they could find was 60.00 which was all I was going to get returned.
It became a fight with the bank to find that 40.00 and they insinuated I stole my own 40.00. I wanted to close my account but I had a check out on that account and had to wait. So I returned 3 days later to put cash into the bank to cover the checks out ONLY, then close the account. When I asked for the current print out I was unable to abtain one. I was denied a print out and told I did not have any thing out other than this check. Although I knew that was not so I only gave them enough to cover what they claimed was out. Then 2 last trans action went through both were 7.00 and some change. They charged me 35.00 each for coverage. I told them I would pay them the 16.00 but I would not pay 75.00 for over drafts because they refused my tender when I requested them to give me any update so I could pay up and close out with them. I was called on the phone and threatened by the bank. They were going to freeze any bank account I had and make it impossible to bank and all this other harassing BS. I told them to do what ever made them happy. I would just return to cash and use money orders.
