I cannot believe the lack of support
I cannot believe the lack of support the Democrats in Washington have received by their fellow party members throughout this country. President Bush has ridden on the backs of our beloved troops during his 'War On Terror' but when it came time to truly support our troops he hung them out to dry while fighting for funds without time lines. When our troops needed support the Democrats came through and it is in politics their most shining moment. Shame on the public opinion that the Democrats caved in, they were merely supporting our troops as should we all!

Supporting Troops Meant Cutting Funding
Supporting our troops meant doing the only thing that Congress could do: cut the war funding and begin bringing them home. Instead, they are embroiled in a civil war. Many congressional Democrats are playing a craven political game with our courageous troops lives. The point you are not getting is that supporting the troops does not mean supporting this immoral, illegitimate war.
Republicans/Democrats
I get the idea............the fact that we have a number of democratic/republican's who are Bushies which remained in office since it was republican. It's like culling cattle. Once you've spotted your corruption now it is time to get rid of them. They are riding on the Veto wagon with Bush. He isn't going to give in because it is about money to him and his regime, I imagine they make money on their hidden investment in it all. That was obvious when Bush vetoed the first bill. He had more than enough money but he didn't want a timeline. Another red flag indicator that it is a money making business and those who are from the last congress and served then, still have a seat. They need to be ID'd and culled out.
We don't want our children left in danger because there is not enough back up to cover their AZZ's while they are trying to pull out either. It's a TRAP. We are trapped and the Bush regime and his hidden corrupt congressional seats know it. That McCain and Romney are two of the first I hope get dumped. I pray Neither one of them will get in because Romey supports the Military Complex and is money driven. McCain is just a loose nut ready to go off. He just wants to be a WAR president too! It boosts his ego-centric unfullfilled dreams.
Don't Forget Guiliani!!
That man is an idiot too!!
That's right, Guiliani is
That's right, Guiliani is living off his heroistic self-deception of how he managed the 911 catastrop. He needs to be bumped off the board.
Guiliani asked Ron Paul to "retract his statement"
regarding the reasons we were attacked on 9/11.
Guiliani, the self proclaimed expert on 9/11, demanded Paul retract his
statement, which Paul did not do.
Here's an interesting editorial on Paul's comment.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/05/18/martin/index.html
Hate Guiliani too!
After the current preident got into office by using predjudice against gays I'd hate to think Americans would vote for that cross dressing fool. But then again, they voted for the current fool.
Has America become a country of hired corporate killers?
Have the Armed ex-service members of our trained Marine and Ground forces joined in a free for all Contract Killer Corporate Takeover of our troops?
It seems that King georgie is holding them hostage in Iraq, until the last dollar for this Occupation is on the dotted line?
Where is the America, we know?
I was told before that the US Government military Industrial Complex, is nothing more than a Government sanctioned MAFIA.
Bush Crime Family and Cheney have done their utmost to break or change the laws that protect us.
mommapanther
Brilliant!!!
Pure genius! But until the 'cull' can happen they'll never get enough votes to overide the veto.
I do not support the war.
I do however support the troops. I felt that when this happened it was like a rift in the democratic party. The numbers just were not there to overide the veto so our reps did the only thing that they could. Why be angry at them for doing the right thing?
I am not happy that Congress
I am not happy that Congress was forced to give in to Bush. But what I do understand is this; We had 3 missing soldiers, one was found in the Euphrates river beaten, tortured and brutally whipped. The other two have been found but it is so grusome as to what they went through before they died, is unbarable to look at. Last year 3 others were also abducted and tortured. They were all barely 20 years old. When the other soldiers were interviewed about these abductions the answers were, "there was never enough troops placed on the ground in the beginning for proper field opoations to take place and ambushes were imminate". Now the soldiers who spoke out have obtained attorneys to protect themselves for speaking out. This was a built in scam or funding move from the Chaney /Bush / Rummy Military complex, so they could use the torture of these young soldiers to sell us out to get us to all give in to their demands. They probably order it to happen at this perfect time. WE are all going to "OUT CRY" for more troops, equipment, etc. and any help we can get them Right when funding is being deliberated. They just need to be Impeached...all of them.
People who can not see how these torturous attacks on these babies and their families are all about the time money is being deliberated must be so unaware of the reality of it all or stupid is the word I find appropriate. The big picture "OUT SIDE the BOX" which most do not care to lift their heads to look out that narrow ditch they lay in, ........is apparent.
Screw the Congressional
Screw the Congressional Republicrats. I've got a son with the 10th Mountain Division that leaves for Baghdad shortly. The only way we are going to get through this is first admitt to ourselves we were sold out.
Fragments of my child
Look, I have one leaving in the fall, and I don't want to find pieces of his body all over this internet, I don't want any reports that he's missing and it took back up an hour to get to them during an ambush. Nor do I want to here about floating heads; or pulling headless bodies out of one of those rivers; or any report he was beaten around the face and head and showed signs of being whipped and tortured. I am not willing to do that and this cruddy regime knows that no mother wants to know these things are happening to their children because we are going to surrender. We are not the only military families out here. We are going to have different points of view. After I carried him 9 months, birth him, cradled him and watched him grow into a man...he is still my baby boy. I live for him.
I do want this "LOW LIFE SCUM" out of office and I will sign every petition and make every move I can to get results. I will even canvas for public awareness to get results, but the majority of them hide under their door matts most of the time. The average American's are sheeple. They follow their own Naricssistic leaders. They watch "Desparate House Wives, CSI, and American Idol but pay no attention to the Political attack by this administration and the political and financial devistation happening to this country which they haven't even begun to understand .......
"The lights are still out!"
Although I am torn, all of those who voted "NO!" to the funding I respect and honor their strength to uphold these grounds that I can't do...not that I am not willing to do, but what I won't be able to do under these conditions. So I depend on them to cover my AZZ when I can't stand up because I am emotionally broken over this utterly disgusting dicotomy I have to struggle through.
Go girl! I'm with you
Shameless Stampers
There are still too many rubber stamp members to get your baby back to safety. However I commend and congratulate your efforts all the best. You kick thier #$%*$ GIRL!!!
AMEN!!
For oil!
I grieve for all this country has lost.
My mother at one time worked in the twin towers and I remember others who worked there. When the buildings fell I wondered if those people still worked there and I cried for weeks because I'll never know.
I still don't understand how the issue got twisted into us going after a country that as far as I know wasn't to blame for 9/11. But I guess since Bush is a legendary failure in the oil business then that explains it. But I will not condemn the people who are trying to support our troops even at the high costs.
I will continue to mourn the great losses suffered at the hands of this administration.

Hello
Tiger. Welcome to the site. I see you are from Ky too.
I can see what she is trying to say. Bush is a psychotic liar. Do you think he would have minded one bit our troops doing without what they needed? Congress should have shown more backbone but do we really believe Bush would've cared if they got funding or not?
What you need to consider Tiger, is that we wanted Congress to fight Bush. That is what we worked so hard get them elected for.
War-Weary???????
War-weary? Many troops have yet to fight
45 percent of Marines, 37 percent of Army used elsewhere, yet to deploy
WASHINGTON - Even as troops in Iraq and Afghanistan are serving longer and more often — three, four, even five times — roughly half of Americans in uniform have not been sent at all.
That’s partly chance, partly a matter of timing. It also illustrates the massive organization on the home front to support an army in the field.
Whatever the reason, it didn’t seem fair to Marine Sgt. Matthew Clark, who sits behind a desk in Illinois but has asked to “go to the fight” instead.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18988292/
I believe this raises a lot of questions with our Pentagon and the Department of Defence.
Why would you send the minimal amount of troops to Iraq and then ware them out by not doing proper rotation unless you had a pre-meditated reason?
I do not believe they caved on this one issue.War and funding.
The Senate has a lot of Conservative Democrats. There would be
no way some of them would cut funds. I never expected they would win.
As long as GWB is Commander in Chief, he will have the last
word. My Way or the Highway. For Once they at least went down
fighting. To my weird way of thinking, they should have gone
on TV EnMASSE and proclaimed to the world --Clearly and Strongly
The Republican Party and GWB are continuing the war over our
best efforts to stop them.
Do I get angry at them over other issues-- heck yes. Trade Policy
Globalization. H-1B Visas. Doing dirt to the Middle Class.
Time to wipe the sleep from your eyes
This statement puts it all in context for you:
"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power."
-Abraham Lincoln
Funding the Troops has been the problem for months before the
"end the war issue" was brought to table for discussion.
Very Very early on Duncan Hunter started this "Democrats want to
cut funding for troops." He started this in his campaign.
I am not saying this true, right or correct. The Republicans in
Congress picked up on this and started repeating it over and over
on TV.
Once again I am saying the Democratic Party(my party) has not yet
learned the importance of identifying immediately Accusations which
Must Be Stopped and Diffused. They have not yet learned the importance
of getting people on TV right away to put up the good fight to dismiss
the false allegations. Television is the main source of information for
average Americans. The idea that Democrats wanted to cut supplies
and money for the troops was firmly planted. THE DEMOCRATS
IN THE HOUSE AND SENATE should have been on TV defanging that
message--the minute it started. Yes, the Internet and Netroots
are important and their influence has grown untbelievably fast,
but we now have to bring Joe and Jane Sixpack(TV Viewers along)
The Republicans realize this. Here is proof. I believe the Democrats
won the last election. Yet, on the daily programming on the 24 hr
Cable News Programs, the Republicans are more representative
and their message is put out more forcefully. I repeat the Dems
are in charge. I do not know what is going on , but I ask this
question. ARE the Dems unaware of the importance of TV PR??
I wiped the sleep from my eyes, but I still maintain the reality
that we could not win. No one had made the case that the
Democrats were ending the war to save the troops.
My own personal views were not mentioned in previous post.
My observations. I could be all out Defund the troops and
still understand reality. Conservative Democrats will not
let themselves be called Cut and Runners and God knows
they will fund the troops.. I also say the Defund Argument
should have been fought out and made clear. The Media
is now saying over and over--It is the far left who wants
to end the war . Somebody should have been on TV
this week--Saying it is not just the far left, it is the American
People who believe this war is a mistake and we should get
out. This should be just as strongly pushed as the
the Republicans" we want victory'.
Democrats need to be on TV, not just guests on Sunday
AM Shows.
l
Conservative Democrats???
What the hell is a Conservative Democrat??
Sounds much the same as "Not Funding the Troops"
Your post proves David Swanson's point.....keep dancing while the barn burns...
"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power."
-Abraham Lincoln
Conservative Democrats were around and are alive and well
Are you pulling my chain or kidding.
If you believe God Guns and Rays is the only thing that makes a conservative
I can see your point. For many of us, a person's position on Fiscal Conservatism is more important because it affects our lives every day of the week. Example, tax policy, trade policy, Globalization, social justice issues.
These same persons will tend to be in Hawkish category of Foreign Policy.
Joe Lieberman is the ultimate Conservative Democrat. DLC, Blue Dogs New Dems ---all have members who are Conservative Democrats.
The Mistake, if any, was made by Congress and Senate not being straight with Activists and saying ---It takes 67 votes to override the President. The only way we can stop the war is having all of our own members plus 17 Rebulicans. to stop the war. We are giving it the best fight possible.
Here is another example of a Conservative Democrat.
Ben Nelson, Nebraska explained to a reporter(CNN) that on one vote he voted with the Dems on the War. He knew it would not pass so he considered it a throw away vote. In other words Nelson is a conservative Dem. who suupports the war and will not cut funds when it really counts. He will vote with the Dems if it does not matter.
I am surprised that you do not know there are Conservative Dems. They do not hide it. Think DLC, New Dems and Blue Dogs.
67 Votes needed. 17 Republicans Needed
The DINOs that you cite as
The DINOs that you cite as being "Conservative Dems," are not Conservatives (aka "moderates") at all. They are DLC "centrist" New Democrats, and subscribe to the same right-wing neoconservative principles as the Republican neocons. Also, they are funded by the same corporate entities as the Republicans. Calling them "Conservative Democrats" does a disservice to true Middle American Republican Conservatives and Democratic Liberals alike.
The parent organization of the DLC, the Third Way Progressive Policy Institute (PPI) helped to draft the neoconservative Project for a New American Century (PNAC) which was the Pax Americana road map for this illegal "war on terror."
These DLC DINOs are neoconservative wolves in sheep's clothing, and have infiltrated the Democratic Party by posing as self-appointed "leaders." They are neither Democrats, nor leaders, -- they are dishonest political traitors who care more about being re-elected than their oath to serve, so that they can continue to feed from the corporate K Street trough.
See this link for a list of DLC New Democrats:
http://www.nndb.com/group/269/000093987/
I get it!!
I understand the numbers, my point was simply that Bush was ready to leave our troops high and dry just to get his way. I am proud of our democrat representatives for understanding the numbers and putting our troops before the petty fighting in the White house.
Let them be republicans
All I am saying is that the statement "Conservative Democrat" is as redundant as saying "You are abandoning the troops by not funding the war" That is the discussion we are having.
There are some areas where things are more black and white than most folks wish to admit....it makes their rationalizations seem less digestible.
"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power."
-Abraham Lincoln
Democratic Debate
I watched the Democratic Debate, which I am sure the rest of you also did the same. Joe Biden voted "yes" on funding. I can not speak for every one, but I will speak for my self and how I feel. Joe Biden said EXACTLY how I am torn. I didn't want them to say yes to the funding, but I wanted the troops to have the technology that would be shipped over with this funding, because we need 17 more votes on the democratic side or we are at a stale mate and 2 months later still fighting Bush's vetos. No money, still at war; they never put enough troops over there to begin with which I feel were premeditated actions to put congress in a position to deal with continous funding; a setup that began with the previous congress and those who were in the seats before this congress took office and still reign in these seats attempting to keep the funding going (hidden Bushies). Almost like a perpetual "BLACK MAIL" to the Military families and to the Anti-war movement and the current democratic congress. Now this is just my personal view, as I have made it clear we are going to have to clean house or cull cattle, to get rid of all the bad apples.
I thought it was interesting they asked everyone what they would do with "Bill Clinton" simply because of the connection between Clintons and the Bush's and the Leo Wanta story. Some of you may have read about that or have some knowledge of it.
Another question was what would you do right now.....I liked Bill Richardson, which I was at one time one of his constituites and I have a high reguard for his knowledge and his work as a Governor of New Mexico. Yet one of the things I liked the most was when Joe Biden said the first two things would be "PUT AN END TO THIS WAR...... CHANGE FOREIGN POLICY" ...............there is not doubt in my mind that he said all the right things for me. Those two things will be the first on Ron Pauls list. That is exactly what he was saying to GULIAINI...which the poor ole fool just didn't know enough about history, this foreign policy............. I don't get the feeling Guliani knows to much about our backlash issues with other countries particularly the Middle East. He needs to get educated. This new President is going to have to understand what this foreign policy has done to our country and how it has dishonored us as a whole. It does not reflect how "WE THE PEOPLE" really feel when it comes the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. It does not reflect us as a whole. What is does reflect is Bush's Government and their corruption.
I thought Richardson and Obama did quite well in the debate.
Gravel was his truth seeking, whistleblower self- I like him.
Hillary surprised me, she spoke quite candidly at times.
It was interesting to see the moderator attempt to get all of them to
agree on something- NOT!
"I'm not a member of an organized political party. I'm a Democrat.
- Will Rogers.
I thought
Edwards won the debate. I would like to think it was not just bias. I thought Obama and Hillary both dropped the ball on the very first question. Hillary re-affirmed the "War on Terror" and Obama let it slip that we should wait until the next President to leave Iraq. Edwards did get a point scored against him from Obama and Hillary, but overall he was agressive and he added policy proposals with almost every answer. Obama looked really bad on the VA answer and rebuttal.

Yeah....I caught that too! He was another they mentioned ...didn't know much on the Foreign Policy. He stated that we are in more danger because of our presence in Iraq which caused terrorist to crop up in other counties...I agree with that. I didn't understand Hillary's remark "we are safer than before". I got the feeling she knew something all the rest of us didn't know or more like she'played a bigger part in how we got here before 911 occurred. But again I don't really trust the Clinton's.
I considered Edwards the winner.
in last night's debate. Joe Biden helped himself also.
Joe Biden
This is the guy I am really looking at because he was willing to throw his vote away for the safety of the troops. He voted in favor of the troops safety. I know funding has to be shut down to stop these "Nut Cases" Bush and his Government and all his hidden cronies. But those of us who have son's and daughters preparing to deploy. I am not going to say they all feel like me, but those 3 soldiers were not my babies, but the feeling of being in their shoes struck so close to home. I followed them as if they were mine, I cried amd mourned as if they were mine, they feel like my spiritual children.
They belong to me too!
Therefore, I have to say with my deepest concern for our troops, "Thank you Joe Biden for seeing inside of all the Miliatary's families hearts and souls for looking out for our children. Thank you to the rest of Congress who stood up and said "NO" to the funding to show Bush you are going to Win this in the end.
I am just saddened it has to be such a difficult thing and I pray someone comes up with a plan that Knocks those WAR CRIMINALS setting in the white house on their AZZ'es in the end. A message to you Hidden "SKUNKS" pretending to be for the people and parading as democrates..................Your time is coming. The Lord put's Kings on their thrones, but the Lord also takes King's down.

The more I hear and read these 'canned' pronouncements...
from our 'media-approved' candidates, the better Mike Gravel looks from the perspective of knowing what he is talking about and sticking with what we need to hear.
Used to be a song, Nam era, Blowing In The Wind. Other than Mike, they are all blowing in the wind with whatever they think will sell themseves at that particular moment in time.
Biden remains what he has always been--a sleeze-bag opportunist.
A mind once expanded can never return to its original dimensions.

The greatest derangement of the mind is to believe in something because one wishes it to be so.
I like
A lot of what Gravel says, but I would like to hear some policy proposals from him. I think he and Kucinich are both very intelligent.
Gravel says, but I would

They are up there with Ron Paul. They know about the illuminati. I do not want to see Al Gore get in to the run. He's at all the dirty political meetings
I don't think Gravel is really looking to the presidency as much as he is looking to pull the carpet out from under all their feet and reveal the truth, tell it like it is. Reveal the issues about what is and has been really going on. But I watched that Faith/Politics last night and that was really good. I really liked Kucinich. He really knows that Orginal constitution and how it is structured to protect this country. We need to pull out of these countries and get ourselve straight.
Ron Paul Is A Libertarian/Republican!
Most of your posts on Democrats.com include a pitch for the candidacy of a non-Democrat. I would just like to point out that Ron Paul is not only a Libertarian, he is running as a Republican. You may want to read the Rules of Democrats.com here:
http://www.democrats.com/rules
We are Democrats who are trying to get more Democrats elected.
Libertarian agenda
Is a bit of a twist to being a real government. Libertarian agenda melts away when you mention one word...."infrastructure". Are they going to get out there and dig those roads, rails, airports, filter the water, educate our children, keep our food safe, etc. ? It's just a way of getting elected like saying...no taxes. Ya like a big country like ours can function without taxes and infrastructure.
Small government and no taxes doesn't work for those 3rd world countries nor will it work for ours. They can't get their products to market even if they wanted. The infrastructure does not exist. This is the problem Russia is having in making their country more prosperous and modern. The don't even have accountants who can go into companies and keep records. The Empire building with "unending wars" and corruption left them without much. We are on the same path of unending wars and debt.
Both Libertarians and Republicans can't do government. They don't believe in it. They only know how to steal and tell lies about destroying our democracy. Their words ring hollow with me.
The most successful society in the world was modern day Sweden (until the WTO). They were a Social\Democracy. Libertarians and Republicans don't believe in doing what's right for the "good of the people". Nope...Ron Paul is right about the ending the war and our Constitution (which everyone in this country should be supporting) but doesn't qualify as a President in a modern democracy.
Illuminati?
Let's just call them what they are...crooks, liars, and murderers.
