This fall, Culture Project will launch an ambitious and unique new series gathering today's most brilliant and visionary minds to explore and debate the case for the impeachment of President George Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney. A Question of Impeachment will engage audiences in investigating crucial issues affecting all Americans, particularly as they prepare to elect a new leader, including expansion of executive powers, war, surveillance, torture and extraordinary rendition and government response to disaster. The 5 week series will launch on November 18, 2007 (in conjunction with the previously announced production of Howard Zinn's Rebel Voices) with a special opening celebration featuring, among others, singer Phoebe Snow and actress Annabella Sciorra, and continue Sundays and Mondays through Sunday, December 16, 2007.

In honor of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, join CODEPINK and Busboys & Poets for a look inside Iraq with Haifa Zangana and the filmmakers of Meeting Resistance. The evening will include clips from Meeting Resistance, a reading from City of Widows, and a conversation moderated by Andy Shallal.

Haifa Zangana is a fierce witness to her native war-torn country, and the only Iraqi woman in the West writing about the situation. Now a contributor to the Guardian in London, Haifa once endured six months of torture in Abu Ghraib, a prisoner of Saddam Hussein's Ba'ath party. In City of Widows: An Iraqi Womans Account of War and Resistance, she offers a clear-eyed and forceful account of the recent history of her people and of Iraqi women in particular, amidst years of sanctions, war, and occupation.

I'm writing from NY-19, John Hall's district (Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland & Orange counties). We are Patriots for Impeachment.
We are planning to hold "Honk to Impeach" signs on Friday, Nov. 30th outside John Hall's office (Congress is home that week). Thinking about turning it into a national event, people all over the country honking for impeachment on 11/30 outside their own reps' offices.

It would be great if you could let other groups know so we can all stage rallies outside our Congress members' offices that day.

All you need is poster paper and magic markers to write "Honk for Impeachment", "Impeach Bush & Cheney" and other signs like that. We've done a couple of Honk for Impeachment events and it's fun. Come on now, you all join in on the fun!

Please share widely among impeachment groups and if your site could help track the participants across the country that would be great. Thanks!

A weekly peace vigil has been held in front of the Mendocino County Court House every Friday night from 5 to 6 pm for the last 5 years. All are welcome to come and join our demonstration. Dignity and respect for others is the only requirement. Bring your own peace signs or borrow ours.

Bill Risner, a distinguished Tucson attorney & election activist will give the legal arguments supporting impeachment, while Professor Bill Boyd, Senior Lecturer in Law at the UA College of Law, will provide opposing arguments

Moderator:
Dick Eaton, UA Professor of History and a former DFA forum panelist will be the moderator for the event.

Rally at Faneuil Hall, Boston, MA, then march to Boston Tea Party Ship.

Event Description:

After one Bush/Cheney assault on the Constitution too many, one man can no longer stand still.

Brattleboro Vermont resident John Nirenberg plans to walk from Boston to Washington, DC to confront House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and DEMAND impeachment proceedings begin against Bush & Cheney immediately! (That's right, you heard me: HE'S GOING TO WALK - THE WHOLE WAY!)

John will begin his trek to Washington, DC on Saturday, December 1, 2007 from Fanueil Hall in Boston, MA - where Americans forefathers once gathered to plot their resistance to King George.

Our group will gather there this Saturday afternoon - starting at 2pm - to give John a proper send-off for his heroic journey to Washington. John will speak at Faneuil Hall at 3:00 p.m. Then, we will march with him for the first half mile or so of his journey - from Faneuil Hall to the site of Boston Tea Party.

This fall, Culture Project will launch an ambitious and unique new series gathering today's most brilliant and visionary minds to explore and debate the case for the impeachment of President George Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney. A Question of Impeachment will engage audiences in investigating crucial issues affecting all Americans, particularly as they prepare to elect a new leader, including expansion of executive powers, war, surveillance, torture and extraordinary rendition and government response to disaster. The 5 week series will launch on November 18, 2007 (in conjunction with the previously announced production of Howard Zinn's Rebel Voices)with a special opening celebration featuring, among others, singer Phoebe Snow and actress Annabella Sciorra, and continue Sundays and Mondays through Sunday, December 16, 2007.

A FORUM ON IMPEACHMENT

In this educational event we will hear from published authors who are students of U.S. history and the Constitution and deeply concerned citizens

their understandings of:

* What does the Constitution say about impeachment?
* When has impeachment been used in U.S. history, and what were the results?
* Do any actions of President George W. Bush and Vice-President Dick Cheney constitute the “high crimes and misdemeanors” referred to in the Constitution?
* Why is the U.S. Congress not acting on the impeachment resolutions which have been introduced?
* Are there reasons why Congress should not consider impeachment?

7:00 p.m. Article III: Criminal Negligence and Hurricane Katrina

George W. Bush and Richard Cheney, in their conduct of the Offices of the President and Vice President of the United States, have demonstrated criminal negligence in their slow and insufficient response to the effects of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, when clear evidence warranted immediate and massive action on the following counts: 1) New Orleans was under-funded prior to the storms, when it was clearly at risk; 2) one-third of Louisiana's "National Guard" are in Iraq and unable to respond to domestic crisis; the National Guard and military who were in the United State were not sent in immediately; 3) two years after the storms, 50,000 people remain displaced and the majority of promised government aid has not found its way to the people who need it most. Wherefore George W. Bush and Richard Cheney, by such conduct, warrant impeachment, trial and removal from office.

Washington, DC: Demonstration for Justice at Guantanamo

On December 5th, the Supreme Court will hear arguments for the cases of Boumediene v. Bush and Al Odah v. U.S., brought on behalf of men imprisoned for over five years at Guantánamo Bay and deprived of any meaningful court review. What is at stake is the fundamental right to challenge the lawfulness of detention without charges or trial. Students across the country are coming together on December 4th to direct attention to this important case on December 5th.
