Pressure Minneapolis City Council to Impeach
Friday, November 2, 2007@9:15am.
As a follow-up to our wildly successful impeachment Town Hall meeting with Minneapolis City Council Members Cam Gordon and Elizabeth Glidden and Council Member Remington coming out for impeachment, we're calling on citizens to do three things:
* Call your Council Member
* Attend the City Council Meetings
* Flyer neighborhoods to spread the word (on car windows, doors, etc). Here's the flyer (If you hand out the flyer in your neighborhood, circle the councilmember who represents your neighborhood so folks know who represents them.)
Attend the Minneapolis City Council Meetings with impeachment signs and shirts to show support. According to sources on the Minneapolis City Council, they will be taking up impeachment in the next few months. The idea is to be a visual advertisement of the call on them to impeach!
A weekly peace vigil has been held in front of the Mendocino County Court House every Friday night from 5 to 6 pm for the last 5 years. All are welcome to come and join our demonstration. Dignity and respect for others is the only requirement. Bring your own peace signs or borrow ours.

Congress, and then went to jail to make her point.

Sunday, Nov. 4 – 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. - ACLU sponsors a Conversation with Cong. John Conyers, Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, where Kucinich's H. Res. 333 for Impeachment of Cheney lies dormant.
We hope to have a large group of impeachment advocates present. You remember Conyers held impeachment hearings in the basement of the House back when the Dems had no power. Way back then (2005), Cindy Sheehan and other progressives testified. But last summer these same people were arrested for exercising civil disobedience in Conyers' office.
Free and open to the public!
RSVP: (786) 363-2701 or field@aclufl.org SFIC will provide you with a map showing the location of the Auditorium and where to park.
And, oh, yes, there should be press coverage.

Members of the Broome County Peace Action plan Monday, November 5, 2007 to announce a regional campaign advocating for an impeachment inquiry into President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
After a very successful Impeachment Teach-in, and in direct response to Congressman Maurice Hinchey’s request for more concrete display of public support for impeachment, the Broome County Peace Action, in conjunction with other social justice and peace organizations, has launched a County-wide campaign to advocate for an impeachment inquiry into President Bush and Vice President Cheney.
The group is planning the announcement for 4:30 p.m. Monday outside the Federal Courthouse on 15 Henry Street in Binghamton, NY.
The event follows the Impeachment Teach-In, which drew about 400 people to the Broome County Forum on Oct. 13.

Emergency Demonstration in New York City:
Protest the Demolition of
New Orleans Public Housing
“Activists nationwide stand in solidarity to save public housing expose and corruption”
Who: New York Solidarity Coalition with Katrina Rita Survivors and Concerned Citizen of Greater Harlem (CCOGH)
What: Press Conference & Rally - National Day of Protest to Stop Demolition of New Orleans public housing and expose the corruption of the Bush Administration and HUD.
The Bush Administration through HUD and it’s criminally planned demolition of about 5000 affordable housing units in New Orleans is a continuation of the corruption, cronyism and the marginalization and forced removal of the unwanted poor from New Orleans, that began with the incompetence and willful negligence demonstrated by FEMA and the Bush administration before and after Hurricane Katrina.
War and the Fourth Estate: Renowned Book Authors Discuss the Media's Role in the Iraq War
- Bob Woodward, State of Denial
- Michael Isikoff, Hubris
- Ron Suskind, The One Percent Doctrine
- Senator George McGovern, Out of Iraq
Hosts:
- Rep. Maxine Waters (Chair, Out of Iraq Caucus)
- Rep. Barbara Lee and Lynn
Woolsey (Co-Chairs, Congressional Progressive Caucus)
ABOUT:
We are pleased to invite you to a book fair and roundtable discussion of the media's role in the war in Iraq.* Thomas Jefferson said, "Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government."
Some argue that nobody is more responsible for keeping the populous informed than the fourth estate - the media. What role should the media play before or during wartime? What should the relationship be between the government and the media? Do members of the media share some responsibility for the Iraq War?
This is a call to everyone who wants to prevent a war with Iran, stop the war in Iraq, and bring a halt to all the hate and brutality this regime is unleashing.
In solidarity nationwide with Iraq Moratorium
* discussions will make plans for 3 important events this week:
* Orange ALERT Friday, Nov 16-Prevent Bush from Bombing Iran (see below)
* Nov 16 March to end rascism, called for by National Action Center
* Stop Hate Crimes and Police Brutality-Enough is Enough...Nov 17, Rally/Concert, Called for by Hip Hop Caucus and others - more info will be distributed about all these events at the mtg
