Corporate Media Feels the Netroots Heat

Wednesday's ABC debate enraged the Netroots, and the Corporate Media is really feeling the heat. I believe this is the first time MSNBC has acknowledged the power of the Netroots, although of course they turned it into an attack on Hillary Clinton rather than themselves.

ObamaNation's Power: Curious of what the bitterness and anger could look like if Obama is somehow denied the Democratic nomination? Check out the reaction from the ObamaNation over Wednesday's debate. To put it simply, ABC was under siege yesterday. This may only be a taste of how the ObamaNation would react to a Clinton nomination. If MoveOn is motivated to do a petition campaign against the media over a debate, imagine what Clinton delegates and undecided superdelegates would face this summer if there is doubt. And as the Politico's Ben Smith pointed out yesterday, it's also what the GOP would face in the general election, especially if Obama is nominee. The level of devotion among Obama's supporters rivals what Bush had with his flock in 2004. The left-wing blogosphere is MUCH more powerful than what you see on the right this cycle and it reminds us of the advantage Bush had in '04. While we all know about that so-called right-wing voice machine, don't forget that there is now a left-wing noise machine (on the internet) as well. And it has found its voice.

One of our best voices is MSNBC's Rachel Maddow. In fact she's so good that every time she speaks up, Joe Scarborough cuts her off. Last night he was so frustrated, he stormed off the set.

In the words of Hillary Clinton.....:"screw em"

Why didn't ABC bring up the following to Hil:

During the past week, Sen. Hillary Clinton has presented herself as a working class populist, the politician in touch with small town sentiments, compared to the elitism of her opponent, Sen. Barack Obama.

But a telling anecdote from her husband's administration shows Hillary Clinton's attitudes about the "lunch-bucket Democrats" are not exactly pristine.

In January 1995, as the Clintons were licking their wounds from the 1994 congressional elections, a debate emerged at a retreat at Camp David. Should the administration make overtures to working class white southerners who had all but forsaken the Democratic Party? The then-first lady took a less than inclusive approach.

"Screw 'em," she told her husband. "You don't owe them a thing, Bill. They're doing nothing for you; you don't have to do anything for them."

The statement -- which author Benjamin Barber witnessed and wrote about in his book, "The Truth of Power: Intellectual Affairs in the Clinton White House" -- was prompted by another speaker raising the difficulties of reaching "Reagan Democrats." It stands in stark contrast to the attitude the New York Democrat has recently taken on the campaign trail, in which she has presented herself as the one candidate who understands the working-class needs.

Kathy, you really need to go back and research...

the political history of that period before you copy anti-Hillary slime from the Huffington Post(Huffington Hates Hillary).

The group of 'white southerners Hillary was talking about at that time were the Dixiecrats, those who forsake the Democratic Party in order to vote Republican and prevent civil rights from taking over.

She was also talking about southern working class people who followed Newt Gingrich in his quest for a 'Contract On America.'

The Dixiecrats evolved in the 60s. They are still with us.

This is a favored(at the moment)slur/slam at Hillary by overzealous Obama supporters. Try Kos or DU's general discussion primaries for evidence that this is so.

The greatest derangement of the mind is to believe in something because one wishes it to be so.

That "debate" was a disgrace!

Instead of focusing on the real issues facing our country,
the first 50 minutes were spent on

---flagpins--

---"sniper fire" in Bosnia--

---association( however distant-didn't matter) with former WUO member over forty years ago---

and other important, pressing matters affecting the future of the US.

It was painful to watch this tabloid style journalism passing on ABC.
They have hit an all time low in journalistic integrity.

Do I ever miss Peter Jennings!
He would never have tolerated this 'Star Magazine' type questioning for
one second.
