The Lieberman Plan: "Catastrophes Until Victory"

Don Imus endorsed Joe Lieberman in 2006 and gave him endless valuable airtime. Yet when Imus tried to get a straight answer from Lieberman about his  "Plan B" for Iraq after escalation fails, he had to pull Lieberman's teeth. After several references to prayer, Lieberman finally offered his plan: "a series of catastrophes that ends up in victory for one side."

Yeah, well, you know, we will then look at the situation and decide what we can do, and the alternatives are limited here. The other alternatives–the main alternative that the opponents of what the President has done are offering is to simply begin to withdraw. And the theory there is that somehow if you with– I mean some people want to withdraw because they just want to get out. They think the thing–They want to give up. They think the thing is not winnable. I'm afraid they don't agree with me that the consequences of pulling out would be a disaster for everybody, including most important, us. But some say if you begin to withdraw, then Maliki and the other Iraqis will say 'Oh, my God, they're leaving. We got to get our act together. I don't think so. I think what is more likely is that the Iraqi politicians will begin to hedge their bets, and the militias and the Al Qaeda terrorists will just hold back until the day we're gone, and then chaos will break out, and unfortunately as McCain says, we'll probably be back there in a larger war, you know, two, three, four, five years from now. I think this is our chance, so I'd guess I'd say to you in war–There's a famous old saying that war is a series of catastrophes that ends up in victory for one side, and right now I'd say this plan is the best next step we've got. Let's hope it works, pray it works, and if it doesn't, then we'll figure out what we're gonna do then.

If that's the best plan Lieberman can offer, it's time for Democrats to cut funding NOW.

Update 1: BarbinMD reports Lieberman will help Republicans filibuster any resolution against the Escalation. She also catches him lying about three Democratic alternatives. He wants 35,000 troops, not 21,500. And his arrogance and contempt for voters is limitless:

And what about the fact that more than 60% of Americans oppose this escalation?

SEN. LIEBERMAN: Yeah. Look, it’s very – this is very troubling in many ways. I do think that because of the mistakes that have been made in the prosecution of the war, because of the fact that this is an unconventional war in which people – what they see on television at night or hear about on the radio or read in the newspapers are the suicide bombings. And in matters of national security, ultimately two things: one is elected leaders have a responsibility to do what they think is right for the country and the future of the country and not to play to public opinion.

No one "played to public opinion" more than Lieberman during the 2006 campaign when he promised to end the war as soon as possible. Go fuck yourself, Holy Joe.

Lieberman is bankrupt

but only in ideas. If you get a lot of money from the defense industry to keep you in office, and you invest in that same industry, then why not just keep fighting and making money, even if the US is losing?

He's of the school that if you do something and it doesn't work, just try harder. That's also a definition of insanity; maybe it's catching; maybe he caught it from Bush, or McCain.

Douglas C. Smyth

To whom is his loyalty really directed?

I am not anti-semitic, but will be labeled as such after you read this message. Jewish Americans have a strong loyalty to Israel and will support any action that keeps the Middle East in turmoil - especially Arabs against Arabs - even if those actions cause death to our own troops and the innocent women and children and moderate Muslims in those countries surrounding Israel. Lieberman will use anything in his power to keep himself a voice in the furtherance of this illegal, immoral and disastrous war.

Betty Ann: Many Jews disagree with Lieberman and want peace!

The media NEVER shows Jews that want peace like Peace Now Voices For Peace. There numbers are increasing and AIPAC is becoming much less popular. You are Not Anti-Semitic, you are pro peace!! The solution is through diplomacy but George Bush likes to scare all Jews into thinking that a nuclear holocaust is coming from Iran. That is a Bush lie and propaganda! He is a liar.

Impeach Lieberman

He is a disgrace!!!!

Lieberman Is Trying to Defeat A Religion

We are learning a hard lesson in Iraq and Lieberman
a committed idealogue who will wage war against anybody
that is anti-semitic or criticizes Israel in any way.
The new direction for the country is to realize that
a military solution in the Middle East is not possible.
We have to chart a new course that makes the moderation of
terrorist groups and their sponsers a top priority. This
is the only course that will have success and Afghanistan
and the many defeats of the Taliban is another example of
a failed policy.

Dan Dent Bush would rather profit from wars!

The world Knows that A Diplomatic Peaceful Solution is Correct. Halliburton profits by wars!!!

Israel wants peace Arabs want peace Bush wants war!

Bush said "I just want you to know when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace" George W. Bush 43rd President of the United States
