theBlueHighwayman's blogOn the Eve! Be sure to Vote Tomorrow for the Candidate of your choice!Dispatch NYC 9:00P EST The vaunted February 5th Primary is upon us! I’ve gotten to be in NYC to cast my vote in person and a good thing because I’m still undecided. Problem is the Democratic Congress has been so ineffective it becomes a tossup as to voting for either candidate. Hope and Change is a slogan leftover from the November 06 campaign. It’s looking mighty unappetizing to me! I sat down and made a short list of each candidate strengths and weaknesses. As you can see it didn’t help much.
The Biggest Fairytale Ever ToldDispatch from NYC 2:30P Last November the American People handed control of congress to the Democratic Party. They voted Democratic because of a promise to end the War in Iraq and to hold Bush and Cheney accountable. If the Democratic Candidates had said 'we’re taking impeachment off the table' and 'we are going to continue funding the Iraq War', the Republicans would still be in power. In fact, they still are because a majority of the Democratic Congress refuses to change the course of anything. Congressman Nadler on Impeacment or My Search for the Fountain of Youth
Dispatch from New York City - 4:00P EST This is a recording of a quote from Congressman Nadler made at the NOW meeting Sunday Jan 13, 2008 in the Gramercy Park National Arts Club. Unfortunately his words are rhetoric, nothing more, just meant to terrify us into voting for the Democratic Party in November. Racist Theory on Hillary's Victory in New Hampshire
Dispatch from New York City - 7:00P EST 2008 has just begun and the Media is already on a roll. They are all vying for the best why Hillary won New Hampshire theory. The prize here goes to the Chris Matthews Show and the Racist Theory to explain the lousy exit polls. Of course Chris Matthews has long been a critic of Senator Clinton and was writing her off after Iowa. On his Tuesday show Chris stated “This is the night the night that could be the end of a Presidential frontrunner’s candidacy”. Wishful thinking and as can be imagined Chris was not only stunned later that night but finally driven to madness. His show on Wednesday night was the most hilarious episode yet. Imagine grown educated men and one woman sitting around expounding the Racist Theory of Hillary’s win. The Swiftboating of Governor Kathleen Sebelius
New sign on the Highways! Dispatch from a Hotel in Normal, IL - 12:15A CST Karl Rove and the gang are at it again, this time it is to destroy the Democratic Governor of Kansas. Her mortal sin was to tell the truth about the Kansas National Guard equipment. Tony Snow, living up to his name, started the snowball rolling by stating "Governor Sebelius never requested anything from the Federal Government." Today that ball was picked up by none other than Sean Hannity. He interviewed two idiots from Pittsburgh, PA, who have a morning show on 104.7 FM (a Clearchannel station) and XM Radio named Quinn and Rose, and accused Howard Dean of orchestrating the Governor's statement for political gain. The story goes like this: Dispatches from theBlueHighwaymanTheBlueHighwayman says: Photos from Saturday's Protest in Washington DC (This is an update to a mistake I made in the first post)
The coming week should be very interesting. Will Congress at last have the courage to stand up to Bush and Cheney? Especially Cheney after that pshychotic episode he had on CNN. Imagine he actually said Congress can do whatever, he intends to proceed as planned in Iraq! Meaning he couldn't care less if Congress cuts the funds for the Iraq war or anything else. We now have a Monarchy! Dispatches from theBLueHighwaymantheBlueHighwayman says: Another Year with Bush Ramblings from the Road In the weeks after the election there was elation at the results. Everywhere I went there was a new feeling of hope things would improve. It was the first time I’ve listened to CONservative Radio and totally not cared about what they were saying. I found the will to impeach Bush to be secondary to wanting a solution in Iraq. Now that Bush has slapped America in the face this will likely change. Bush and Cheney certainly deserve to be impeached more than any other officials in American history. What’s more it may be the only way to stop the maniac in the White House. Dispatches from theBlueHighwaymantheBlueHighwayman says: Failing to make a plan is planning for failure! The words on a huge banner hanging in a warehouse in Louisville, Kentucky. No, it wasn’t a comment on the Iraq War but it summarized Bush’s folly in Iraq. This will be the main issue on voters’ minds tomorrow when they vote. No matter how the Republicans try to spin the truth they have finally trapped themselves. As I have traveled across the Heartland this year talking to all kinds of people in cities and rural areas both rich and poor it was always the Iraq war on their minds. If I had to single out one thing that will most affect the elections this year it would have to be the count of American lives lost in Iraq. I sensed a turn around in the Nation when Cindy Sheehan camped herself outside Bush’s Crawford ranch. The voice of a single mother did what no blog, demonstration, organization, or politician could accomplish. People around the country could relate to her loss. The price of this unnecessary war started being questioned. It was a feeling that grew with the ravages of Hurricane Katrina as we watched Americans in an American city left deserted when their homes were destroyed. Bush, as on the morning of 9/11, did not know what to do. Dispatches From theBlueHighwaymantheBlueHighwayman says: The Fight for the Heartland I’m camped in St Louis tonight, Congressional District 1 represented by Congressman Clay, a Democrat. Missouri is at the very heart of the nation and there’s a very tight race for the Senate out here between incumbent Republican Jim Talent and Democratic challenger Claire McCaskill. Just back from Hooters out here in Maryland Heights a part of the St. Louis suburbs. For those of you not familiar with Hooters it’s a restaurant/bar where all the waitresses are dressed rather provocatively and the TV’s are tuned to sporting events. These places are very popular throughout the Midwest. St Louis is also the location of the playoff games for the National League championship between the Mets and St. Louis Cardinals. Tonight’s game was rained out for all who might be interested. Dispatches from theBlueHighwaymantheBlueHighwayman says: My Guerilla Campaign across the Heartland There are thirty days left to the November 7th election and things are going brilliantly for the Democrats. All across the Heartland things are looking to be a major upset for the Republicans. I’ll bet Cheney will go to Pakistan to find Bin Laden in person to save the CONservatives and his own ass. I never assume anything though cause as we all know it’s not over till the ‘Fat Lady Sings’. She’s warming up and every Republican is running for cover. I’ve got my own campaign for the Democratic victory in full swing. Working independently one can have a lot of latitude of action. Dispatches from theBlueHighwaymantheBlueHighwayman says: Full Speed Ahead on Torture - The White House Gang somewhere in Afghanistan
Does that guy in front look familiar? These good Christians would have loved ancient Rome when little things like International Treaties and the Constitution didn’t get in one’s way. The Bush Gang is now free to interpret the Geneva Accords as they please. I'm sure they'll continue to make us all proud to be Americans! McCain, Warner, and Graham let the boys in the White House go full speed ahead on torture as long as they don't murder, mutilate, or incapacitate. Great fight guys you've really shone some guts in standing up to the Bush Administration! Of course Maher Arar experienced the real thing in 2002, read about it at this link: Maher Arar: Timeline. We deported him to Syria where it seems we don't have diplomatic relations but we can send people to be tortured.
Dispatches from theBlueHighwaymantheBlueHighwayman says: Rummy and England at work in the Bunker
November Elections are less than eight weeks away and the boys over at the White House are playing the Nazi card. Here’s Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld and Deputy Secretary of Defense England in a secret photo discussing Iraq. Well, with a little help from Photoshop of course but I just thought it would be fun to return the “Nazi Sympathizer” complement. Rummy does look handsome wearing the Iron Cross. I say if the uniform fits wear it and a number of other Republicans could wear it as well. Some people might think this is over the edge but hell this is where the Republicans want to go this election. We’re all considered Al Quada by the CONservatives anyway. Dispatches from the BlueHighwaymantheBlueHighwayman says: Republicans: Cut ‘n’ Run on the Constitution - Bush Vows to Overturn Wiretapping Ruling The incident in London last week has given Republicans their last hope of driving all America into becoming a fearful cowering nation that looks to them for protection. With the November elections on the horizon this is their plan to keep the House and Senate. They’re all taking their lead from the seven times deferred from the Vietnam War yellowbellied chicken hawk Dick Cheney. The reality of this plot to blow up passenger jets is that Bin Laden is still out there planning attacks. It is proof of the ineffectiveness of Bush’s war on terror. It is proof we are no safer now than before 9/11. It is proof Bush’s failure to capture or kill Bin Laden is a major strategic blunder. It is proof America needs new intelligent leadership in the War on Terror before another successful attack does occur.
Dispatches from theBlueHighwaymantheBlueHighwayman says: Billboards As I was driving out of Chicago today on I90 I saw this billboard.
The organization doing this is The North West Indiana Coalition Against the Iraq War. Their website is at this link: http://www.exitiraq.org/ I've discussed the Billboard idea with several people including the Democrats during the Kerry campaign. Billboards are great, they stand like stone monoliths in mute testimony to a cause. The right uses them quite effectively across the Heartland. They are not cheap especially in good locations but any Interstate location plays to ten of thousands. We need more of these blaring out the message across the landscape. Billboards have one other benefit, they force one to boil the message down to the essential.
Dispatches from theBlueHighwaymantheBlueHighwayman says: Harris Poll discovers 50% of America 'Braindead' The new Harris Poll finds 50% of the 1020 adults they polled believe there were WMD's in Iraq. This just goes to show the literacy rate in America is a lot lower than anyone can imagine. With all those technical gadgets we still have a problem with 'comprehension'. The poll does have some bright spots click the link below. I just had a conversation with John Gibson of Fox News, (We Distort you Decide), who is one of the main proponents of the found WMD's in Iraq story. He has absolutely no problem totally distorting the facts and even resorting to lying to prove his point. It's working and this new Harris Poll proves it. Talk Radio is one battlefield we cannot afford to lose.
